Yuvraj should not be in T20

Recommended Posts

After having spent a couple of innings in the middle, a  Confidence Booster innings tonight.  It is important to have the right mindset and mental conditioning.  Could mix the aggression with some singles to rotate the strike. That would be even better. Atleast the intent was there which is really important.

Yuvi has found his touch against the medium-pacers and spinners today.

Some of his sixes and fours were vintage Yuvraj....so good to see.

But...he was very uncomfortable against the fast-bowler Chameera.   Seems like he is not comfortable against quick bowlers yet.

Its imp for him to come gud and become consistent

He will be the x factor

It is quite clear that Yuvi will play World T20 if fit.  Both Dhoni and Kohli have given clear indications to this effect. His selection in every T20 match is an indication too.

So, it bodes very well for our team that he was able to time the ball , hit big shots and play at a very high SR....albeit against medium pacers and spinners only.

He didn't have this problem earlier, I remember when he made his debut in the Champions trophy he seemed quite comfortable against the pace of Brett Lee, if anything he used to struggle against spin, I wonder why this change now, he doesn't seem to have made any drastic change to his technique.

Doesn't matter if he is struggling against fast bowlers, as long as intent was there to attack.

Since his comeback, he just bogs himself (and the team) down, striking well below 100 SR.

India doesn't need another anchor (especially one who is out of form), there is already Rohit, Kohli and Dhoni to fulfill that role.

Hopefully he continues this aggressive intent rgiht from ball 1, because he is still the India's biggest hitter.

Actually there is a change in his technique

He is batting now like he was in 2002. His best was around 2006. He was playing staright in the V. The backlift was controlled and the angle of the bat was straight

In 2012, He actually made his backlift really high and had shuffle, also he wasnt balanced on crease thats why he struggled against pace. Also his bat angle was towards leg side and feet towards off. And his front feet dindt move at all

Now, what he has Improved is his backlift looks a lil lower and his shuffle on crease is less.

But Main thing was his  body balance which was best from 2006-09

U can see his videos on youtube in diff yrs Specially from 2006-09, 2010-11, 2012-15 , and now. There has been a constant change

Yeah, Yuvi's historic weakness of playing short deliveries : trying to hook, and pull off a wide delivery are still there and will remain.  Also the other weakness with the  ball angling outside offstump bowled over the wicket.  He'll have to use judgement to overcome his natural instinct and see off these deliveries.  Batting is all about using the feet so he'll need to get into a better position to play these deliveries.

Positive takeout was the intent and the confidence that he may have got from this innings.  Still needs to work out on a few things.

True. And only against Pakistan if they do make the final, we will get to see how he can face up to Amir and Company.
