fineleg Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 (edited) How does our selectors jokers bloody select these 115 buffoons for Irani Trophy!?Its an eyesore, and RoI cannot even test Bombay batsmen properly with this attack Edited March 7, 2016 by fineleg adi B and tweaker 2
tweaker Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 India hopeful Aaron,Yadav, should been selected .Selectors could have selected Shami also to access his fitness express bowling 1
express bowling Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Krishna Das is a poor selection for ROI.Ankit Rajpoot should have been in the team in the first place. He is the only bowler who has had some effect on this pitch. Sadly, he picked up a knee niggle, went off...when he returned he had to bowl an eight-over spell !!!! He was injured again.Aaron should have been there.Unadkat has looked very ordinary on a track not providing added assistance to seamers. Not a single wrist-spinner in the squad too.Our selectors' obsession with medium pacers and finger spinners continue. Shivaji bhonsle Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I wonder if the selectors even watch the domestic matches or they just pick the players looking at their statistics. !!Dumb selection..! tweaker 1
gakgupta Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I wonder if the selectors even watch the domestic matches or they just pick the players looking at their statistics. !! Dumb selection..!totally agree with you......sometimes i wonder statistician would do better jobThey don't have future planning....they don't understand the current team requirements.................I believe there is a requirement for good wrist spinner (and there is no wrist spinner selected at all in any major domestic tournaments). When kirshna das is not intl material....then why waste the spot....message to all pacers should be given loud and clear....."Improve ur pace and you will get a chance"No. of wickets doesn't matter

Sooda Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I wonder if the selectors even watch the domestic matches or they just pick the players looking at their statistics. !! Ian Dev Singh, case in point
tweaker Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Krishna Das has bowled 40 overs in this match wheras Ankit Rajpoot bowled 17 overs & got injured. If the medium pacer are over bowled they will also start to bowl below 115 kmph.Every team needs such bowlers ie. Das,Sandhu,Rishi who are work horse & are required to bowl more than the other bowlers
express bowling Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 There have been many bowlers who have impressive " wickets per match " for this season as well as good averages. Their total wickets are lesser as their teams have played less matches. But, the focus always seems to be total wickets in a season. The same fallacy is present while considering batsmen.Parameters like " wickets per match " and " bowling average " for bowlersand" Runs per match " and " batting average " for batsmen should be more validprovided the player has played a minimum of say 5 matches. tweaker 1
BlackMamba Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 If Stuart Binny is the strike bowler of a team... God Help that team. adi B, tweaker and Sid_SuhaiL 3
Ankit_sharma03 Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Selectors have to look beyond the idea of selecting a player just becoz of domestic perfomancesI praise selectors for selecting a rookie like Sran n nathu singh on basis of just talentI praise selectors for selecting Bumrah, pandya, negi which were very logical n brave selectionBut Every year players like Krishna das, ambati raydu by just going on sheer number, no plzn about futureSelectors shud keep in mind what indian team needs now or in future. KRishna das will never play for india n if he does god help us. Bowler with pace is the need of the hour specially the way wkts are flattening out all over world. And what about having few seniors to make it a proper competition.Another need for Indian team is Batsman who can bowl like Hooda, Mann, gopal , shankar which are needed in all formats. Also we need a 3rd spinner for Odi. Kuldeep yadav is someone who needs to be again pushed a lot more. Whats the Point of only selecting him for t20. Thats not a way to make a spinner tweaker, express bowling and Sid_SuhaiL 3

Thats not a way to make a spinnerPlayers who have the potential to be international players should be selected for A teams, ROI teams etc.Domestic stats should act as an added factor to chose among those players with international potential.Even among those stats...averages and wickets or runs per match should be given more stress. Some players need to be groomed based on just potential....like Nathu Singh.Pacers with pace and bounce, spinners with spin and zip off the deck, batsmen who are good players of pace and spin and are stroke-players too.......are generally the right kinds of players for international cricket. tweaker 1
vijay50 Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Is Roger Binny still a selector?Nepotism at highest levels.

Das,Sandhu,Rishi who are work horse & are required to bowl more than the other bowlersYes I agree with you that every team needs work horse bowlers but usually its spinners who would be expected to perform that role, why would you use pacers knowing that they'll bowl with reduced pace as a result. Also Das, Sandhu etc are in general in the 115-125kmph range, bowlers of such pace are rarely successful for an extended period at the international level and hence their potential for becoming regular Indian Test players is questionable and therefore the selection of such bowlers in important domestic tourneys like Irani Cup is perplexing. tweaker 1
