Where are the turners?

Looking at the warm-up matches for WT20, it looks like the pitches are more on the flat patta side than being slow turners. I hope the nature of the pitches doesn't remain the same when the real tourney kicks off as getting into "bat offs" against likes of NZ, Aus or SA will be foolhardy. We better get turners where we can make the most of our strength in spin bowling else we will lose a golden opportunity to win WT20. BCCI better spread the word to local associations and the curators as we won't get a better opportunity to win the tourney.

While India may still do ok on these flat wickets, such batting tracks negates India's strengths.

Pitches for ICC events are prepared by ICC not Local boards and Usually other than test India puts up Flat decks in desi Phattas..

As A Pakistani I am happy with it as it brings our Hacks in it..Maybe Hackfeez or Hackjeel can have a once in Blue moon Performance to save us from complete embarrassment Hackmal also does well in t20 wcs (surprisingly :D)

ICC doesn't do much other than ensure there's no last minute "tampering". The nature of the pitches is still controlled by the home board and curators. IMO we would be losing home advantage by not going for turners when we have 4 spinners in the playing XI - Ashwin, Jadeja, Yuvi and Raina. The pitches may suit Pak much better but I'm hoping the pitches are different in the actual tourney.

There's no way we beat Aussies on pattas and Kiwis & Saffers would be tough outs as well. Hope better sense prevails and we see turners where 140-150 is the average score instead of 190-200.

Other than Nagpur (which is historically slow low ) Pitches will be pan cake and unlike Bangladesh where all Matches are played in 1 or 2 grounds it is unlikely that pitches will tear down..

If the pitches are flat pattas I wouldn't rule out Kiwis or Pak joining Aus in semis. Kiwis have some great hitters in their lineup and Pak have decent bowling headed by Amir and the flat pitches should help their batsmen. India's strength is spin and pitches which are slightly on the slower side where they can strangle opponents with their spinners. If that's not the case, I wouldn't put India as the favorites.

They will be able to score on pattas. You gotta remember that Pak doesn't need to score 180-200. They only need to score around 160 for their bowlers to defend, which is quite doable. It's T20 and all you need is one or two batsmen to click in a match and it's more than likely to happen on pattas.

That's exactly what I'm scared of. It looks like BCCI has lost all its clout with the ouster of Srini and this Manohar guy isn't doing anything to help Indian cricket. The current BCCI leadership looks more interested in being seen PC (politically correct) even though it ends up harming the interests of Indian cricket and team India. Srini mama would have given a diktat to every Indian venue that they better prepare turners or else...

Only hope is the NZ game in Tuesday is in Nagpur. I hope it is slow and low and helps Jadeja and Ashwin. Have no clue about Eden Gardens though.

At the end of the day we have to win 2 out of 3 against NZ, Pak and Aus, and turners give us the best chance to do so.

TBH if we can't beat B'desh at home, we don't deserve to win. We have bigger hitters, better fielders and better spinners than them and I can't see them beating us at home. However, if we go against NZ or Aus on a flat patta i can easily see them scoring 200 and winning.

I think its going to be tough for Bangladesh. They need wickets that do a bit for their seamers. From being over reliant on spinners, they now heavily rely on their pacemen.

True. But BD can upset one of Pak or NZ, giving Ind a little bit of breathing space 

Ideal scenario would be BD beats Pak, and Pak beats NZ

Rohit is unlikely to show up against Pak and in knock outs. He's our bully who beats up weak teams and generally shows up in group games.but is hardly seen in pressure matches. Against Pak, I would go with any one of Dhawan, Kohli, Raina, Dhoni etc. but not Rohit.

ICC tournaments mostly have flat pitches. Despite that, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand will not do well against India's spinners. England is the only threat to India.

You need to go watch how he saved us in 2007 against RSA at home.. That was very crucial match for us to qualify for SF
