But I don't think it will be easy get this passed at the ICC. The issue isn't so [simple]. It is a tough process." BCB vice-president Mahbubul Anam and directors Ahmed Sajjadul Alam and Tanjil Chowdhury had said last month that they were against such a system being implemented in Test cricket. Should it be implemented, Bangladesh, who are ranked ninth, are likely to slip into Division Two of Test cricket. According to the ICC's press release at the end of the annual conference, members were updated on the progress being made on the two-tier idea during the CEC meeting. It was proposed that a workshop be scheduled in early September in Dubai, to facilitate discussion between members on this project and to work through some of the details. ICC chief executive David Richardson said that the new structure will make the game more competitive. "This is an unprecedented opportunity for our sport to introduce... structures which are merit and performance based, have context, enhance the value of bilateral cricket, and create a highly competitive environment for cricketers. sscomp32 Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 LOL. I am sure BCB is thinking that they might lose the top division status if this comes into play and thats why they are opposing it. How many matches have they won to think that they deserve to be in the top division? I dont remember BD winning any test match recently vs a top nation but i do remember even Zim won a match v PAK. Just searched cricinfo and they have only beaten WI in 2009. And we all know WI is a weak test team.

May as well call it the the big 4 + small 3 (SL,PAK,NZ) I remember they almost won 1 match v PAK but Inzi the great singlehandedly beat them.

BCCI votes with the asian block, where is this block lol, Pak/SL/BD hate India so there is no block here, its us vs them.

SLC president Thilanga Sumathipala also voiced concerns over the financial ramifications of a potential tiered system, and believed the current path towards full membership and Test status for Associate sides was adequate. The proposal to split Test cricket into two tiers - with seven nations in tier one, and five, including two new Test nations, in the second tier - was mooted at the ICC's annual conference, in Edinburgh. BCB president Nazmul Hassan had said Bangladesh was the only country to oppose the proposed system, but SLC officials said Sri Lanka was one of two boards in opposition.
