Umesh had a gud bouncer, off lately i feel he doesnt bowl it well.

Yes...Umesh used to bowl the bouncer better a couple of years earlier.  He needs to practice bowling them regularly and getting steeper bounce.

This spell by Srinath :adore:

What a spell from Srinath, my favourite Indian fast bowler till date !  He used to combine consistency with high pace and steep bounce and succeeded as a result.

Also, he continued bowling quick for many many years. I remember reading an interview where he said that he retired because he felt that he was not bowling quick enough for the slow Indian pitches that year. ( Although he was still quicker than most New pacers who replaced him ). Respect.

Indian bowlers have gone the same way as indian batsmen in the opposite direction.

from masters of spin and good players of swing and bunnies against raw pace they have become good players of pace and pathetic against spin and deer in headlights against swing.

similarly our bowlers have become better using reverse swing than conventional new ball swing which was our strength in the past....Ishant and Umesh both are brilliant when the ball starts reversing.....same thing with spinners....from masters of flight and guile we are now producing darters.

I am sure some names will be thrown around as an exception to the rule for the above post.

I am talking about in general.

Our batsman not playing spin well is due to them playing a lot of Int cricket where u dnt get to face lot of spinner n gud as our seniors use to play in domestic . Also pitches in world dnt offer much help to spin so they dnt get quality practice against spin. Standard of spinners have gone down in domestic a lot . Having said that i find it strange how a guy like Pujara struggled against Moeen ali n Lyon . Pujara is not a part of short format setup so he does play a gud amount of domestic cricket. Dravid has also pointed out many times our youngsters have forgotten to rotate strike while playing against spin as they build pressure on themselves. Thats y we need a batting coach who could help us play spin better.

T20 cricket has affected pace bowlers length n discipline.
