Murali is a Tamil in Srilanka. Although he is not the srilankan tamil he is i think from kandy that places him in the Indians who settled in SL as tea plantation workers but i might be wrong. But still srilankan society is not fully reconciled after the war yet. Its not just a question of ethinicity like what we see in India, like fun one up man ship in SL its pretty serious.

“If Sri Lanka loses, they (the board) will say it is because of Murali,” he said in a recorded statement. “They have no right to accuse me of being a traitor. Have they done one hundredth of what I have contributed to cricket in Sri Lanka?

Sad that a great icon of SL cricket is being subjected to humiliation. He is right to hit back at SLC.

even sangakkara was accused of putting his franchise team above the nation at one point of time.. SLC doesnt know how to handle its heroes and this is not the first time they jumped the gun on a legend a little too soon. iam not sure but like in pakistan, the government is in control of the board... so a little bit of dictatorial treatment is to be expected.

Agree but they have named a stadium after murali ffs.
