But, generally speaking, how do you replace superstars who are not performing up to the mark but are not retiring on their own  ?   This has always been a problem in Indian cricket and will continue to be a problem with the next generation of superstars and the next.  If we want to be a professional side then we need to demarcate between showing respect to a super performer of the past and including him in the current team.  The current team should be chosen as per current day ability with an added consideration of developing a couple of players for the future so that the transition process is smooth.

 

I agree. But it is the responsibility of BCCI to speak to the greats and advice them. After all, nobody should be above the board. 

 

Question is, Is BCCI doing it? They are more than happy making money than anything.

Meanwhile, WI booted out their T20 world cup winning captain and is doing just fine. Dhoni won the T20 world cup almost 10 year ago. He should not be allowed to milk that forever. Both Rahul and Pandey are part time wicket keepers. Why not use them both as batsmen keepers? Both keep for 10 overs each or in every other match. T20 is about innovation and inventing new tactics, not clinging on to has been players who were never great in the format to begin with.

That's because their powerful selectors have a "talk" with them and then they are forced to retire. In our case, the entire selection committee gets forced to retire if anyone even suggests that a senior should retire

Thanks but I don't think Dhoni should retire because he seems to be not in form and out of motivation. It is for a time being only because Dhoni has showed us great captaincy in his earlier matches and because of him we have won countless number of matches.
