coffee_rules Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) http://www.deccanherald.com/content/583903/inexperience-factor-says-dejected-skipper.html Quote Things, however, have gone southward for Alastair Cook and Co with team losing at Visakhapatnam and Mohali. In both the games England had their chances but faltered at key junctures as India rode away to victories. A visibly downcast Cook attributed the defeats to inexperience. “The India we played in 2012 was different, probably an ageing team compared to now. A different setup, more youngsters who also have got four years of experience in these conditions. We in 2012 were a lot more experienced side and played a lot more in the sub-continent over last 3 years before that. This side, only two in the top-order have played more than 1-2 games in the sub-continent before we played in Bangladesh. That’s probably the difference. But it was frustrating. We haven't delivered in the last two games. There is nothing worse than that actually, when you know you can play better and you’re not quite doing it,” said Cook. Agree, in context of 2012. But back in 2006 the team was not ageing, We peaked in 2008ish and became #1 test team, so he was not right in 2006 in favor of dropping Sachin and Ganguly. Unleashed Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 They don't have anyone near the class of KP and Swann in this team and that's the main difference. Swann was just ridiculously good in his prime.
diga Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 KP & Swann apart, SRT's contribution in that series was non-existent and Yuvi played all 4 tests in that series... what a travesty
mancalledsting Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 We were bound to lose: ageing, unfit Viru declining gauti near retirement sachin yuvi in tests- say no more inexperienced kohli a clueless version of ashwin impotent version of harbhajan they had kp, Swann, cook, Anderson and panesar on best form AuxiliA and Sidhoni 2

What has Greg Chappell got anything to do with it? It's blinding obvious, in 2012 England was a v good team probably at its peak and India was on a decline because of various factors including being an ageing team (and a tired team because of humiliating losses in the preceding 1.5 - 2 years). Every team goes through such phases where a particular set of high performing long career players kind of lose their way at the same time making it tough for players/selectors when to give up or drop. mishra 1
