We will soon see Anurag Thakur back as the BCCI President after the revised judgement, mark my words. Corruption is and and will always be rife in Indian politics. Happy days ahead as usual! what corruption has Thakur done?

Let it be whatever logic. Politicians in India do influence the judicial system. The simplest example was seen in the J Jayalalitha's Wealth case where she was let scott-free despite having being found that she had 10% more wealth (which was in Crores btw) than what she should have had. This 10% was suddenly considered 'insignificant' amount. This was despite not taking into consideration all her benami money.

If not what's the point of having an independent judiciary system, just scrap it and have the ruling party to pass judgements. All I am saying is there should be no outside influence over the SC judgements, otherwise the independence of the highest law in the country is in jeopardy which is bigger threat to our country than some changes to how a sport is run in the country. G_B_ Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 Ram Guha as a selector? Seriously? Are there people crazy?

The government did pass a law to reform the judiciary. Judiciary refused it and SC rejected the law. In the guise of independence sons and daughters of judges become judges.
G_B_ Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 This entire situation is laughable. Lodha recommends that people over 70s should not be in the running of the game. Fair enough (in the UK and most countries in the west would be shot down as being discrimination based on age). Then recommends people who are more than 70? Look at the names being proposed. Engineer BS Bedi Guha Rai. Engineer lives in the UK and has several major health issues at 78. You really have to wonder if Lodha is stuck in a time warp. What next? T20s India wont play cause they are root of spot/match fixing? and lets go back to the 1970s when only test cricket was played?

It is no coincidence that BJP came to power in May 2014 and Supreme Court formed a Special CBI Court in July 2014 to revive the 2G Coal Scam against the opposition party. Look deeper into all those cases and you will find when the judgement were passed for them. Also it's funny you mentioned the 2G Coal scam, as Lodha was one of the 3 judge panel that handled the case Edited January 21, 2017 by Forever Indian
Malcolm Merlyn Posted January 21, 2017 Author Posted January 21, 2017 Quote Meanwhile, Kapil Sibal wanted BCCI to protect its money. He said that the ICC meet in Dubai on 2 and 3 February would decide the distribution of revenue of over Rs 8000 crore annually. He told the Court that BCCI had to be represented properly at the meet or it stood to lose a substantial sum of money each year and for many years to come. “Sending someone new to the negotiations would be to the detriment of India’s cause,” he said and added that a “known face” should be nominated instead Quote Rohatgi also submitted that the issue regarding how much a private society’s internal affairs (even though it is of public importance) be interfered with has to be decided. “The BCCI remains a private society despite its functions resembling that of a national character. Where is your jurisdiction? Take the case of Delhi (DDCA). It is a ‘company’ under Section 25 of the Companies Act. How can you decide the eligibility of the president, secretary and other office-bearers of a private company? These aspects have to be debated. We want a recall of the orders,” he submitted. More from yesterday's hearing. @Trichromatic
