coffee_rules
Yes, saw the highlights. It was a banana inswinger. It would have been hard to even defend it. Absolute snorter. But, the shot the drive was nowhere near the line, shows the ball swung so much. Atleast a inside edge would have happened for some driving the wrong line, schumibest 1 Link to comment
CG
^ that ball was swinging in at 154 kmph. Nearly unplayable. Common sense would have been to look to defend even if he got out it was okay but he was overconfident and tried to drive the ball forgetting it was a new ball and starc can sing the ball in. sandeep 1 Link to comment

Nair out for a golden duck at his home ground. Starc is on fire. Loose shot first up. Starc is full, swinging it, bowling fast, and Nair looks to play a big drive. The ball swings and the inside edge cannons into the middle stump. Oh what a Test Link to comment

Doesn't matter much how you play an unplayable ball. Yes should have looked to defend it but wouldn't have saved him. Link to comment

coffee_rules
Ok, my bad. Was an inside edge. Maybe he wanted to show he is batting on his home ground and show some bravado. But wrong place, wrong time to show that. It will cost him his place when Vijay returns and Kohli goes for 5 bowlers. Link to comment

That's why I asked you to check the scorecards of matches where he scored runs, those were easier conditions to bat, haven't seen a top order batsman who is as clueless against spin as rahane Can you tell me how many scored tons in Delhi Test 2015 if it was so easy? You making it sound like it was patta lol Or even today's 50 was good Same way Kohli hasnt done much in swinging conditions.Doesnt mean we go bonkers Laaloo and Sidhoni 2 Link to comment
CG
Actually the dismissal reminded me of Mitchell Johnson dismissal of Rohit Sharma in WC semi-final after he pulled him for six.Nair and Sharma batting together would be elegance personified. Both have time playing genuine pace but suffer from shot selection. Forever Indian
Both Rahane and Nair should play the rest of the series. Hopefully Rahane can fight it out against spin and become a better player. For our overseas assignment Rahane is a must, Nair can be played as a no.6 bat if we play the extra batsman. Nair though had failed miserably in A tours recently, so has to prove he can do well overseas. But still a better pick than sitting duck 'Tailunt Sharma' Edited March 7, 2017 by Forever Indian vijay50, sandeep, Lord and 1 other 4 Link to comment
diga
Disappointed with both but very disappointed with Rahane for playing that shot... As the team vice-captain, he was expected to play responsibly Link to comment
