Save test cricket - have two tiered test structure.

Recommended Posts

For heaven’s sake, have 2 tier structures in test cricket. These kind of one sided tournaments like Ind vs SL or WI touring Aust is killing an already dyeing format. Have a proper two tier structure based on rankings to have some competition and interest back.

Tier 1 (Top 6 teams)

  1. Ind
  2. Eng
  3. Aust
  4. SA
  5. Pak
  6. NZ

Tier 2 (Bottom 5 + 2 A teams + 1 Associate)

  • SL
  • BD

  • WI
  • Afg
  • Ire
  • A team of no. 1 test side
  • A team no. 2 test side
  • Top associate side based on Intercontinental cup

So say for example, if India is Rank 1, Ind A team will play in Tier 2.

If Eng is Rank 2, Eng A team will play in Tier 2.

Winner of Intercontinental cup will play in Tier 2.

Teams will get relegated/promoted to tiers based on performance points.

Let full strength Indian team win some matches away from sub continent before we trot Indian A against other international sides. No 2 ranking has been changing very often and No1 ranking was also changing very frequently last year. Giving any match with any A side is an insult to other teams.Aussies got away with it becuase their A team was so strong and their main team demolished rest of the world teams so convincingly.

The OP sounds like the anguished cry of a Dhonitard who cannot bear Virat's test successes.

Arey let this team win even a single test in South Africa, England, and/or Australia (and Kohli stop being Anderson's bunny in England) first, then come back and talk.
