Quite a few 100-run partnerships

Many 50+ partnerships

BUT THEY PLAY THE SAME WAY - SLOW.

 

What is their legacy as of today? Are they up their for india opening pairs?

It may be a hard pill to accept to all of us, they will end up as the second-best ODI pair from India after the great SRT-SG pair which brought Indian ODI cricket to the formidable level in the late 90's.

Sachin-Sehwag was not great at all because Sehwag was an average ODI batsman. Dhawan and Rohit have been better ODI Batsmen than him.

sehwag was explosive (his 100+SR is unique in ODIs for Indians) but too inconsistent with the bat - rather like Kapil.

Too slow, most of times we don't even use our middle order because these are too slow. The point is to post most runs possible not just close to 300 every time.

Dhawan is an ICC tournament beast. Gotta accept. Probably the second best opener in ICC tournament after Sachin. Quality runs against good oppositions

Ganguly was also extremely impressive in ICC tournaments (although his SR was a bit of the slower side).
