If we continue in the same vein and kick their backsides - it will demoralize them for several more years ( even if they manage to assemble a world class team ) 

 

If they turn it around in this game and beat us in the finals - I think we will lose the huge mental edge that we have against them.

I used to think it was mental game , it is for Pak, for India is has ceased to be a mental game some years back. Indian team has compartmentalized it to an extent that they do not enter mind games prior to series, it just a very professional setup. If India loose it will be because they were outplayed not some mental thing, for instance SL they aimed 30 runs less and hit the target very well and bowled thinking it was enough and lost pretty precisely with 1.2 overs to spare 340 would have been 3 overs worth at that time , its pretty mundane in a way. But its the hardcore reality of professional sport like IPL and it has rubbed off. Similar impact is seen in Indian football team at their level because of ISL, and i remember the Kabbadi team beating a stronger Iran team just being precise with a degree of professionalism lots of parallels in India

Yes I was thinking eaxctly the same. If India can beat Pak in the Final this time - next 4 years Pak may not be able to beat India.On other hand if Pak Beats India on Sunday , the trend of last 10 years might change  in future !!!!

 

However First Ind has to get over BD.

IMO Indian team crossed this bridge long time back. I don't think they worry about a loss or are impacted by it. IPL has changed Indian cricket forever and you can see the results. They don't mull on prior wins or losses and this change in attitude is called "professionalism".

 

It doesn't mean they won't lose or will win every match. It simply means they won't be bothered about a result either way. Cometh the next tourney they will start afresh and won't be bothered in an earlier tourney. If this weren't the case I doubt India would've been so successful over the last decade or thereabouts. Now the team doesn't rest on its past laurels and at the same time doesn't get bogged down by past losses and IMO that's how it should be.
