One thing that most of us are probably forgetting. Part-time spinners are almost extinct now and definitely useless for 2019 England pitches  unless you are unconventional like kedar.

Hafeez/Shoaib are not part-timers but they are batting all-rounders and were steady most of the time (although not wicket taking). Besides, Eng could change strategy over the next 2 years and may opt for home advantage in a diff way - 2 years is a fairly long time.

Krunal and Chahal as backup spinners. We need to groom two lower order batsmen, one to play as a backup for middle order and the other to play at 6. And three wicket taking pacers. I am not sold out on Bumrah yet. His abilities are limited to T20s as of now.

That is because of the kind of pitches Pak played against South Africa and srilanka. On flat pitches finger spinners too would suffer forget part timers. Gunaratne too bowled well that's coz he was different and we faced him first time. Important thing is in close matches their 6 owers for 50 can tilt the match.

true. we should be looking at wrist spinners more - kuldeep, chahal and maybe fatty.

Do you really think stupidity makes much of a difference to my opinion.

Those were just examples of All rounders bowling not more than 5-6 overs a game - How many overs on average have those bowlers have bowled every game ?

Ofcourse Raina is not the same level as them but in essence yes Raina is similarly on a level of an all rounder - is he as skilled ? certainly not.

I do not think Vijay Shankar as highely as you , if you have a man crush on them , not my fault. I wouldn't put him on my list , if that offends you , doesn't make much of a difference.

And for for you =  ill put it again   - Gambhir  certainly does deserve a chance to fight for a spot in the team .

There is a reason i have given u those stats to see how much more others bowled in comparison n how many wkts they took

Raina is just a part timer and others on many many days have bowled 10-10 overs

We will soon find who are players who are in schemes of things for selectors as India A squad for South Africa will be announced. which compromise of 2 four day match against South Africa A and one day tri series  involving Australia A minimum 4 matches.

Again, Raina should be in contention for a place in the side as an all rounder for the talent India has. Never have I indicated that he's on par with the other guy.

Can Raina bowl 5-6 overs? Yes

Can he bowl 10 on a good day? Yes

Can rain bat - quite well.

Never did I say give him an easy pass to the team but let him fight for a spot.

Can Raina bowl 5-6 overs? yes he can

But can he bowl regulalry in all condition - hell no

Krunal n shankar can

Can he bowl 10 on a good day? No, unless its an absolute turner or may be once in 50 games he can

In his career of 230+ odi he has only bowled 10- overs 4 times so as i said once in 50 games

Krunal n shankar can

Can rain bat - quite well against minnows, against sides with quality fast bowles he has been a sitting duck

Had he had runs at his back he wont have been dropped

Part timers are not all rounders. Sehwag , sachin , ganguly , yuvraj were more of bowlers then raina is . Raina can max chip in few overs if needed that to mostly on subcontinent wkts

I guess teams should concentrate on having a proper 5th bowler and a decent 6th bowler as backup. Days of playing 7 batsman including wicket keeper are gone. 8 to 11 should be strong bowlers known only for their bowling. 7 should be 80% bowler and handy with bat like jadeja. 6 could be anyone even hardik.

Jaddu can't be 7 - he lacks the firepower to be effective down the order.
