Thats better move than someone asking to move Kohli at 4 :hysterical:, the greatest LOI batsman at this time

Huh? When you have 3 openers that's the natural progression that's basic cricket acumen 101. Seen it before since the days of Sachin,Sehwag,Gambhir. You have 2 proper openers and one guy who is a proven match winner as an opener so obviously 1 slot down is not maybe as ridiculous as you think

Yes and fair and that is what this windies series is for but we failed to try a new opener and gave Rahane another chance.

We could have even rested Dhawan and tried Kishan in this series.

kohli, jadeja, umesh all cud have been rested

Yuvi , karthik, rahane cud have been dropped

Thats 6 slots there , m not in favour of sending an absolute new squad but 8 slots were good enough

Plays on sluggish UAE pitches and its just the start if his career , has been dropped 3-4 times already . Iam talking about Pak standards of batting , 6 hundreds already is pretty amazing stat and even they decided to drop him and opted for a dasher .

Why do you say Trott does not deserve those stats and Amla and Rohit somehow do ?

Rohit statistically had a good CT too , what impact did he have apart from sucking the momentum of the innings  ? Thats pretty much his whole career too . He has 2 double hundreds on pitches I bet even Trott could get on his day and one good innnins in Aus . I cant think any other innings of his where we won cos his contribution .

No, he cannot. Clearly, you have not seen Trott bat often - Trott lacks the upper gear; he can score at 100-110 SR at most. With Rohit, he is a slow starter and if he gets out early, this robs momentum. But, if he stays on, he usually compensates for it very well. Not every opener is going to go bang-bang from the beginning. The reason I don't compare Trott with Rohit or Amla is that the latter duo have at least won their teams some bilateral matches, and I can recall very few of Trott's innings where he won Eng matches (such as collecting MOMs).

As for Shehzad, he did much better in UAE (38 avg at SR @73) than abroad. You must like him very much to compare him with likes of Amla and Rohit.

Should have rested Kohli too...what does he have to prove anymore bashing these hapless Wi trundlers?

It is ridiculous to move Kohli as he is no.1 player who needs to face more deliveries. Imagine Dhawan coming in 20th over with ball little older and struggling to hi spinners or medium pacers with older ball and plays put 10 overs with one of the openers and we lose out 2nd wicket in 31st over with poor run rate, so Kohli comes now to rebuild the innings while we lose another wicket or two on the other end and are 135-4 in 35 overs.

This is where game changes.

Kohli is natural no.3, and is just working perfect as he just starts rotating right from the first ball. He will look to take sigles on every good ball and put the bad one for four. You got to keep this guy at 3. Let him do his thing at 3 and let others bat around him.

To increase his average beyond ABDV and Azam ;)

Yep but I don't want full young side.

Would keep 1-2 seniors like say Dhawan and Dhoni and drop or rest all others.

Yes, I was obviously being sarcastic when commenting about why Kohli is playing this truly useless series.

Ideally I want Kohli to play around youngsters, so they bat with him etc. But this turned out totally opposite. Kohli is playing with guys like Rahane, Yuvi who have already played enough.

Pant, Kishan, Iyer should have been playing with Kohli here.

Even i want some change in opening as it has its issues, but what i dnt knw.....if u ask me ill say m nt sure

So we need to try few players at every slot apart from kohli.

U never knw new players might not work , or might be found out after intial success

We have a gr8 bench strength, but with it comes a challenge to get the best combination right . Best combination cant happen with certainty ....well have to try players for few slots to knws whats best

Who knws a kishen or pant might be the kind of jayasuria or gilly that might give u quick start and later our batsman can capatilize

Who knws they fail

Who knws pant might better work in middle or open.....or might not even

We need to try a lot more then few things, this is were we have wasted this tour

trying players like rahane n karthik hasnt gained anything till now so try something new

Yes, selectors have been way too conservative. Same thing happened in Zim tours too - players like Fazal were selected. Where were all the promising batsmen - Kishan, Pant, etc.

Still feel Kohli should have been rested. Rohit/Rahane could have captained and the youngsters should have played. I'm rather concerned about Kohli getting burnt out since he plays with a lot of intensity every time.

So assuming 11 of his hundreds he compensated for his slow starts ( lol thats again saving his own ass ) , we have to compltely ignore the fact that he screwed us the reaming 140+ matches ? Wow feels like the 90s all over again .

Problem with some of you reading stats , Shehzad has played bulk of his games in UAE , yes his stats at home are better than away , but still he does not get to bat on 350 pitches as often as Rohit did . I like Shehzad as much as Rohit " I play for my 100"  sharma , on second thots  may be not as much !!

By your "logic", every player apart from Bradman screwed their teams 80% of the time. Ideally, what you want is someone who will score a 100 every time at a high SR - welcome to Bradman (in Tests).
