Too much talk of Aussie decline.

I've had it reading reports announcing Australia's decline, the end of an era and other rubbish. India win in Perth and all of a sudden the whole cricket world is all set to thrash Australia? What rubbish ! Where's the credit for India? Fact is, Australia were a great side and still are and they will carry on thrashing all teams off the park. All except India that is !

This India side is bristling with some of the most skilled batsmen the sport has ever seen. Ally that with the best swing+spin attack in the world and you'll understand why we keep running them close. The Aussies are still head and shoulders above everyone else.

Forget long term I reckon Aussies will come pretty hard at Adelaide. India will need to do even better than this test match to take the next one. Aussies lost this test match sure but they are not out. Good discipline in batting, bowling and catching earned India this victory. Make no mistake it was very hard fought. You need to be a good test match side with a lot of confidence to beat the Aussies in their own den. India had it in them and over the last couple of years or three they have won atleast a test match in every overseas test series they have played. This victory is not a result of just playing good in this test match but the performance over the last couple of years has helped heaps. They built this victory up over the time. There are not many sides other than the Aussies that are able to do this consistently. India is just starting to show that kind of form.

Typical Pakistani response. Cue for a 100 threads on "How we can beat Australia" in La-la land. Funny how India's enemies have virtually gone from worshipping Tait to abusing him.
At least some of them are still posting, even if it is out of frustration. The Ms and Fs seem to have taken message board retirement since the T20 WC.

Dominance is over, a new era begins By Robert Craddock January 20, 2008 WELCOME to the future, Australian cricket fans. Welcome to a world where your team will remain among the best sides in the world but will have to work like drover's dogs to subdue their closest rivals. We have seen the end of a golden era and will have to get used to the occasional silver and bronze medal against teams ready to answer our best sledges. The fortress was attacked in Sydney and the barricades finally fell in Perth. The post Warne-McGrath adjustment which had to happen has finally kicked. We have learned that Phil Jaques is not Justin Langer, that Shaun Tait is not yet Jason Gillespie, that Shane Warne is irreplaceable and that if you take Matthew Hayden out of the team it hurts everywhere. The most challenging era of Ricky Ponting's captaincy starts this morning. How Allan Border managed to average 50 despite a decade's worth of the type of pressure that has engulfed Ponting this series defies belief. We have also learned that Australian batsmen who skated along like mini-Bradman when their side was crushing the world can be vulnerable when put under pressure. Any Australian batsman who averages 50 over the next four or five years will have earned it. As Steve Waugh says, there is no need for Australian fans to get too worried. They will continue to be among the world leaders and there will be no slide into the abyss which was home to Australian teams of the mid-1980s. It's just that they will find it harder to win. Even as Australia despairs, world cricket is rejoicing at the discovery of a team who not only do not fear Australia but actually fancy their chances against them. No praise is high enough for an India side whose entire pace attack is younger than Tait. Australia is being threatened by a new breed of Indian, whose confidence was embodied by a gesture from young quick Irfan Pathan, when he held his hand up to his ear to the crowd after taking the ninth wicket. India's win will send waves of delight and anticipation across the cricket world. If Australia can falter against India in Perth they can falter anywhere. This is an extraordinary result. Australia will probably win this series but Shane Warne was right. This is no time to be arrogant. India, without their top three fast bowlers, deserve to be rejoicing. The potential of their young fast bowler Ishant Sharma is limitless. Sharma's harassment of Ricky Ponting at the WACA was the best spell of fast bowling Australians have faced since the 2005 Ashes tour when Andrew Flintoff was making the ball swing like a soap bubble. It takes a great spell to contain Ponting; it takes a freakish one to make him look as if he is batting with a cricket stump. His arrival is great news for a world cricket scene desperately seeking some new fast bowling heroes. He has only been playing serious cricket for five years. A great career beckons for him if his drain-pipe physique can be kept in one piece.

This one is from the Aussie media again. It's not the Indian media that is writing all this but the Aussie one. Our Aussie posters should have a go at this guy to be honest. If Indians say this sure they will be shot but how about the Aussies? For the record I don't agree with this piece of news reporting.

time will tell mate ... some of it depends on the track ... will there be enough in it to get a result for either team? secondly, toss will be crucial in Adelaide ... if we bat first and out up 500+ you never know what can happen?

Too much talk of Aussie decline. I think everybody from fans and media are making too much of just one win, I know sydney should have been at worst a draw. This is one example of media going making too much of this one win.if you see the stupid question which cricinfo's Medini Mangala asking Ian chappell "Australia seem to struggle against the moving ball, similar to the way they did in the 2005 Ashes. Also, like they did then, they couldn't convert their 40s and 50s into big, match-winning scores." Did any of Indian batsmen put up a good score, 93 was highest score in the match it is not exactly lighting the score board, they were chasing 413 and they scored 340 runs which was the highest total of match and the way their ninth wicket batted showed what world champions are made off, they didn't lose with out giving a fight. Unlike Indians who in cover of umpiring decisions escaped the fact that they couldn't bat out last few overs of part time spinner and lost wickets in heap to lose the match.Indians need to learn a lot of Aussies how to fight and never give up in any situation. This series should have been 1-1 but Indian still lost Sydney , umpired denied their victory but defeat was totally due to their inability to bat under pressure . Let us think for a minute Indians were chasing 499 in Melbourne how many runs did they score 161, in contrast how many runs did Aussie score 340 , so never under estimate heart of champion and they are champions and they showed in the loss also. Let us not get carried away with one win , let this team with all this talent show us that they can consistently beat good teams overseas not just win one test and be over the moon which they have been so far like in SA they won one test and lost next two .
