if he really is averaging that high, it's commendable. he seems to be more of a vettori-esque player (not in style and scoring, but in avg).

Had given such an opinion some 2 years back. Saying it again.

 

His record in the  last 36 inns  has been as follows

Even if the high number of not outs are neglected(discounting  3 not outs with digital scores   & then not outs reduced to 4)  by providing 25 run each for  each neglected not out score, this guy would have averaged    (1049+ 150) /(33-4) = 41.35.

 

Several of his inns  shows him running out of the partners in the end  and  throw his wicket away thru wild slogging. For a batsman of this calibre, he deserves more than this. For some body who averages 56 in domestic with 3 300+ scores   along with the above said credentials he deserves at least a 6th spot in batting. Once set, he can play that long inns  just like any ordinary batsman.  Being a left hander  adds variety too.

Deserving or not but thats a way to get the best out of him. The more time he has the calmer he is hence his stroke play is better. When he doesnt have time he tries hard n looses his shape. The more runs he scores it ll help his confidence as batsman which can be an asset for us in odi cricket to

Jadeja is good in 2 scenarios when he has to throw his bat around care free or when things are served up on a platter and he can take his own sweet time.

 

No.6 is a critical role that shapes up the entire innings. Jadeja is a mental midget and a choker who can’t be relied upon. 

 

We need a proper batsman who can maybe roll his arm over. If Vihari is not the option then someone else. Can’t play guys like Ashwin,Jadeja or even Pandya at no.6.

but a few inns of his especially in the last 3years or so like  63 vs AUS, 86* vs ENG, 58 vs WI  etc prove other wise. All these came at crucial moments for the team

By that logic he shud have done well in loi at 7. He does well when he has time in hand

He won us ct 2013, chokers dont win u tournaments 

Performed in wc 2019 semi in pressure game.....how can he be a choker ?

Their arent many batsman options who can bowl- nair, vihari, shankar, iyer
