I was a hard core cricket fan and would never missed a single delivery, I am watching regular cricket since 1986, and here are the mileage of the indian bowlers I notices, 1, J Srinath - 156Kmph (99, Africa tour) 2, A Nehra - 149 Kmph (2003 World cup) 3, S Sreesanth - 149 Kmph (Kuwalmpur tri series 2006) 4, RP Singh - 147 Kmph ( Recent Aus series) 5, A Agarkar - 146 Kmph (when he made his debut around 2001-2002) 6, Z Khan - 146 Kmph ( 2003 world cup) 7, A Bhandari - 145 Kmph (2004 Aus tour-this guy was really good strong bowler with good action in his early days, but unfortunate one) 8, VRV Singh - 145 Kmph (2006 Africa tour) 9, Munaf Patel - 143 Kmph (early 2006) 10, L Balaji - 140 Kmph (2004 Pakistan tour) All the above bowler have legal bowling action not like Shoaib or Bret who have suspect action, Apart from these recorded speed I guess Salil Ankola was also very quick, Kapil dev was quick in 79-82 era, If you know some one who was missed from this list you can suggest here,
:hysterical: dont know much about others on the list though.

You couldnt have been more wrong ever than you are now. Srinath was a classic case of stereotyping. Indians have been stereotyped to be anything but fast. I remember innumerable occassions when the commentators ( Good ones like Geoff Boycott, Barry Richards,Graeme Pollock, Ramiz Raja, David Gower etc ) were in awe of his bowling speed. Read this interview of Alastair campbell to know what I am trying to mean. Read the 7th para of the article ! And dont believe whatever some Pakistani posters here might want to troll about the article. As you can clearly see, its a Zimbabwean Cricket Captain talking about Srinath. http://static.espncricinfo.com/db/NATIONAL/ZIM/NEWS/ARTICLES_OLD/CAMPBELL_INTERVIEW_APR1997.html The Australian cricket analyst, Eddie Smith who officially used to keep all data of all bowling speeds of international matches, and someone who I had the fortune of knowing personally, often told me and also wrote in articles that during 95-97, Srinath was perhaps the fastest bowler in the world, even faster than Waqar and Donald. While people can rubbish such claims but I ask, what would an Aussie, and a Zimbabwean cricketer get by talking about Srinath ? Which ofcourse would mean that they were giving honest and unbiased opinions !
Wow.. Very pleased to read following statement from Mr. Campbell:
We then moved on to our second game against India, at Boland Bank Park. In all 236 was quite a decent score, as it wasn't the easiest of pitches to bat on, and Srinath I think bowled the quickest that any of our guys had ever seen. He bowled a really quick spell early on, even quicker than Allan Donald; he was timed at 157 km/h, a good 10 km/h faster than Donald was bowling throughout the tournament.
Honestly speaking I wasn't much aware of Srinath's exploits as out and out pace bowler. Having said that I always knew that he was quick, from the time he broke Mourik Pringle's nose during 92 tour, and carried India's attack admirably on many away tours like England 96, SA 96-97. But his pacy period seems to have faded relatively quickly.

Got injured after the SA tour in 1996, a rotator cuff injury. Had to cut down his speed after that, just when he was hitting his peak. Despite all that, between 96-2001,he was the most successful pacer from the sub continent. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?bowling_pacespin=1;class=1;filter=advanced;opposition=1;opposition=2;opposition=3;opposition=4;opposition=5;opposition=6;opposition=7;opposition=8;orderby=wickets;spanmax1=31+dec+2001;spanmin1=01+Jan+1996;spanval1=span;team=6;team=7;team=8;template=results;type=bowling

Despite shoulder injury, he was the second fastest bowler in WC 1999 after Actor.

Oh OK' date=' I don't follow IPL. Can you please let me what were his speeds?[/quote'] He was bowling at good speeds, 138-145. Only 2 overs to bowl, in a shortened 12-over match. One of the factor should also be considered that it rained heavily before the match and Umesh bowled just after the rain and ground would be a bit soggy. Yet, he bowled pretty well. figures- 2-0-9-2 which was quite impressive.
