South Africa in India 2007-08 South Africa face tough India itinerary Cricinfo staff January 23, 2008 South Africa face a demanding task of three Tests in three weeks after the itinerary for their tour of India was announced. Graeme Smith's team will arrive from Bangladesh, where they will play two Tests and three ODIs, on March 18 and play a three-day warm-up match against India A at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Three back-to-back Tests then follow in Chennai, Ahmedabad and Kanpur in a 21-day period starting from March 26. South Africa's last tour of India was in November 2004 and they went down 1-0 in a two-Test series. However, they should arrive for the latest trip in decent spirits after a home victory over West Indies, while the Bangladesh tour will act as useful preparation. Itinerary March 18 Arrival in Mumbai March 20-22 India A, Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai March 26-30 First Test, Chennai April 3-7 Second Test, Ahmedabad April 11-15 Third Test, Kanpur http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/india/content/current/story/332907.html

As I was telling shwetabh earlier, they got this itinerary dead on. Hit them with Chennai, roll them through Ahmedabad and Kanpur and anything less than 2-0 is going to be very disappointing. Now if only they can fix that giant own goal that's being billed as Australia's itinerary...
Salil what is the Oz itinerary that you know of?

well Harsha was saying that int'view with fox sports that a game @ Delhi' date=' bangalore, nagpur..[/quote'] that sounds suspisciously like last time ... Delhi has been good to us in the past several years. But Nagpur, Blore .... doesnt sounds so good to me

Chennai' date=' Ahmedabad and Kanpur in March ! :haha: the Saffies would do well to bring some cooling vests... and lots of rehydrants ![/quote'] Yeah i wish we would have played the Oz in those conditions ... we dont need helpful atmospherics to beat SA but every advantage against Oz would be useful. Although I think there is a huge question mark with their batting lineup when it comes to batting abroad and batting in turning conditions. Hussey has scored all 8 test 100's at home and has played something like 3-4 tests abroad 2 of em in Bangla!!!

Yup... last time they came they had a middle order that was superbly equipped to play spin - Katich, Martyn, Clarke and Lehmann in 3 tests. In the fourth Ponting returned - and they promptly crashed to defeat. This time the middle order doesn't look anywhere near as skillful in terms of handling spin. Ponting, Hussey (maybe), Clarke and Symonds... hit them with turning tracks, and they ought to struggle a lot more.

Ponting will struggle Hussey will get some good innings but no Martyn at this stage Clarke will do well but will always give chances Symmo will get a cpl of quick innings but doubt he can exhibit the kind of patience you need Gilly is hot and cold ... mostly cold against India these days that lineup doesnt look so flash the more one thinks abt it
