Wasnt Dhawan in great from last time we toured ? Hes still bad against good swing/bounce , if you think those pull shots and drives on the up he plays on flat pitches he can do the same in SA you couldnt be more wrong .

KL Rahul is top 10 ICC ranked batsman. So there is no reason to drop him. It is between MV and Dhawan now. At this point when both grab the opportunities given what Kohli will do is going to be interesting. One a flair Test batsman. One old-fashioned Test batsman. Dhawan in form. MV is gaining some form. So it will be a tough call to drop either of them. But MV is a safer bet abroad.

No he is not. He played great in England a few months back.

Eng odi tracks are patta, what world do u live in that u think those tracks test u 

Dhawan scored in 2013CT in eng then failed overseas in SA test

Dhawan scored in 2014 Odi eng then failed overseas in Aus test and prior to that in ENg test

One day field restriction, bowling restriction cannot be compared with attacking field set against red cherry. He is a capable batsman. He is in form. Can he show the temperament needed to see off Philander, Rabada, Morkel early on. Any adventurous flashy stroke play can trigger a top order collapse.

Thats my bigger concern , exposing the middle order . What we are risking here is getting bowled out for sub par totals regularly  KL - Dhawan opeing will be a disaster , VJ has to be our first choice . As well as KL has played , hes still young and this is his first tour to SA and his game can be loose at times and you put him with another batsmen like Dhawan you can easily see ..1/1 , 1/2 ....10/3 ...40/4 ...108 AO in the first test .
