why there are two batsman for the same role in playing 11

Dhoni and rahane both are consiladator

we can't accommodate both in playing 11

when our top order consistently set platform for hitters to accelerate

Thay are bowlers. While they need to be much better but none of the players you mentioned is a specialist batsman. 

Not only dhoni and Rahane, even Iyer is a mismatch for no 5 or 6 position. Dhoni and Rahane should be kicked out of team. Iyer if given opportunities should bat higher. However I would look for other options straightaway since I don't rate Iyer at all.
