Why does an IT employee whose entire day is either spent coding or talking to client in English be forced to learn Kannada ? Unless they have plans to settle ?
I know many folks, who went to Bengaluru post B.tech, worked for two or three years in a IT company and then moved back to their home towns or cities nearby. For them learning Kannada will serve no purpose.

I know a person from Chennai who was in my company, stayed in Hyderabad for 7 years and owned a flat. He never learned Hyderabadi Hindi, just learned basic words of Telugu and mostly survived on English.
Post Covid, he sold his house and moved back to his hometown to take care of his old parents. He already had enough dependencies in his life, no one burdened him additionally by forcing him to learn Telugu.

We need to understand here that migrating population in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune are mostly IT employees. Who leave their hometowns in search of a better income and future. Most of them are alone in the big city with no relatives and families. They already have enough challenges in their day to day lives. As long as they aren't involved into something illegal or anti-social, we don't need to dance on their heads and force them to live life on our own terms.

I personally don't care whether you choose to learn Kannada or not. You should have that freedom. But don't expect us to accommodate you by speaking in Hindi. We’re not even obligated to use English outside of professional settings.

I'm referring to business entities and essential services like hospitals and banks. If we don't do something about that, expect it to spill over to other matters. This is what's currently happening in Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka. As fellow Indians, you people should support for all scheduled languages to be given the same status as Hindi and English. Else, expect the situation to get much much worse.

You are just as obligated to use hindi as english.

Dont expect us to cater to your hatred of fellow indian cultures in favour of colonial imperial culture, mr pro-imperialism.

Business entities are not obligated, nor are any private orgs obligated to cater to you in ANY shape or form- language or otherwise. You can take your business elsewhere if you dont like their policies. But you are not in position to dictate to a private entity on what language or dress code to use in their workplace.

The situtation is gonna get worse for your kind, because as matter of record shows, no matter how much anti-india idiots like you whine, you cannot stop the hindi flood.

Especially since we have plenty of non-hindi speakers like me pushing it through the system.

Your choice is simple - accept hindi/sanskrit and keep your local language, else see your local language get extinct under hindi barrage.

Karnataka is already more than half way there in its hindification.

TN and KL will follow soon.
These are not idle threats, because this is where majority of NRI and PIO funding is gearing towards for the future. Remember my warning about Khalistanis of vancouver half a decade before Nijjar saga ? This is same kind of warning to your kind - you either accept hindi/sanskrit or your kannada dies. And one thing you can take to the bank- you will see one or the other happen by the time you retire.

Are the hospitals and banks hiring the North Indians giving them training to learn local language ?

If not then this problem will always exist. Its the responsibility of these firms to train these people in the local language as well.

That is again why we need pan india desi link language. Its so surprising that desis are so allergic to this idea when desis are multi-lingual anyways.
Look at europe- European link language of English but it doesnt freaking stop ze germans or monseur francois from thriving in literature and every aspect of culture in their own countries. Same way Bengal is thriving in literature and culture while being quite hindi friendly.

The simple reality southies like @Lannister can't get over, is their butthurt that Hindi is the big brother of the Indian language family. The funny thing about you southies, is that its we Bongs who are supposed to the most upset about Hindi being the big brother of Indian language family, coz we are the 2nd brother by numbers, always have been ( pre and post partition) and for a LONG LONG LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time, we were even more vocal than 'muh dravidian anti-india pride' crowd of beti-chowd periyarists in the 'hindi cholbe na' naara.

But we realized, over time, that hindi is not actually a threat, provided we keep using our language at our state level for people communicating, in our entertainment & music & literature industry and what the shops and business billboards are in, is irrelevant.

In most normal families, its the 2nd bro who tries to pick a beef with the older bro for heirarchy reasons, but no, southies havent gotten the hint even and wanna whine as the shejo, tejo bhais like annoying gits.
Get over your butthurt already, is the simple answer to the problem.

Nope.

Because Link language will have and must have higher status.

basic governnance logic dictates that.

Clearly, you don't understand South Indians, Brahmin. If you think we’ll allow our language and culture to be wiped out that easily, you're sorely mistaken.

So far, its 'Alia acta est' as far as Hindi is concerned and as i said, your inbred brain is too smooth to understand that link language doesnt mean local language extinction.

Thats called southie butthurt.

PS: I aint a brahmin. I am a vaish. get your caste nomenclature right, if you wish to go down that route, hindu-hater.

I didn't knew it was a question, it looked more like a statement.
For me, I am in favour giving importance to all "Indian" languages equally, even the link language should be an "Indian" language.

Dont get me wrong, but Brahmins are the reason coz of which we are still India and not like our Western neighbour.
When I say "Brahmin", I am not referring to the ones who are just for the namesake, but the real ones who have kept our culture intact.

Thank you for that.

Funnily enough the above inbred dimwit wants to call me a brahmin only coz i am a namesake, when in reality, i am a business owning vaish far more interested in politics and statecraft than science/religion etc, even if that is my 'training' background. lol.

They are the main force behind pushing Hindi in Karnataka and likely across the rest of India. There are some liberal Brahmins in the South who openly oppose this project, but they are in a tiny minority. Just as Sanskrit serves to preserve Brahminism and Hinduism, South Indian languages play a crucial role in preserving the unique cultures of each region. This cultural identity, tied closely to language, is especially strong South.

All languages have equal status if I am not wrong. Hindi and English are the official languages of the union govt of India. So unless you communicate with the union govt, there is no need to use Hindi or English. You can support and communicate in your regional language.

Obviously, you will need to communicate in English (or some other common language) with a tourist or someone not from your region (as one can’t be expected to learn a language esp. for a short stay). The same courtesy would be offered to you as well when you step outside of your region.

Ab aaya oot pahar ke nichey.

This is your main reason to opposing Sanskrit as link language. Rest all ' boo hoo hardly anyone speaks' is just nonsense cover. Your hinduphobia.
Unique culture also exists in Punjab and Bengal and Gujarat and Odisha as well as Assam but we are not inbred butthurts like you are to make up a phantom reason coz of your butthurt of not being the big bro.

Last i checked, Punjabi or Gujju culture aint dying and pretty much all of them can speak Hindi to a degree 95% of kannadigas can't.  So your idiot whines about 'muh cultural preservation' is literal jack **** by objective evidence, mr smooth brain.

In my city (a cosmo), many folks speak in Hindi and I have had to tell them to speak in Gujarati.

There are a lot of people from outside of Gujarat that live in Gujarat and I can understand if they speak in Hindi. I have no issues with that.

Usually, these are 9 to 5 employees so Hindi could be seen as a working class lang. Most of the rich people, business folks, NRIs, etc, tend to communicate in Gujarati (and also have the ability to communicate in multiple languages if required).

It's not only in South, Bengali, Assamese, Gujarati, Marathi all are very prominent languages and all culturally rooted to their respective regions.
Problem is we lost our "link language" which was Sanskrit coz so many rich texts and books were burned by the invaders. English can be a link language but that's again not acceptable to many, and for Hindi, there has been so much hate sprewing courtesy of few parties that it has become a sensitive issue where no one would like to burn their hands.

Now, either we keep on engaging ourselves in this tug of war or compromise to make one language as "link" which should be unanimously accepted.

For me, still the best way is to revive Sanskrit, it was our ancient language and it will give us the same strength and self-confidence which China, Israel has. I know if will take atleast 50 years, maybe even more. But a step has to be taken right now if we really want to solve this language issue.

I recall you proudly identifying as a Brahmin when you were racially targeting South Indians on this forum. Do you really think no one noticed that?

Yeah, I recall that claiming something like a Brahmin who is no longer into religion (but appears to have changed his tune recently).

Probably someone with serious mental issues. It's one of the drawbacks of the internet, which is why forums are gradually declining.
