Why do some South Indians can speak Hindi fluently while many can't?

How do you feel about your language imposing on regional languages in Karnataka like Tulu, Kodava, Sanketi, Konkani etc

Wanted to show you how silly and stupid you are blaming a non-existent problem on a whole caste. Again asking, why do you bring your Brahmin hate in every interaction. You think calling someone a Brahmin is an insult? You are dodging a question again - When was the last time you read a book in Kannada or Kannada newspaper or even used Kannada?

 

Promotion starts at home, if you feel proud and indulge in language usage, there is no reason to be a KBW on internet!  I have started a Kannada teaching club in India to colleagues encouraging them to learn a few sentences in Kannada. I read at least 5 books every year and attend AKKA every time it is held in US. I am a member of a Kannada koota that promotes the language in culture, tradition etc.  I don’t wear my caste on my sleeve unlike you , a KBW on Internet

I like Hindi (one of the biggest fans of Bollywood too) and some family members speak by and large in Hindi too. 

 

However, the issue is that this large Hindi (and maybe English) speaking population is migrating to other belts, trying to impose Hindi for their convenience in the local region at times by even promoting false information such as Hindi is a national language. As I mentioned, English and Hindi are the official languages of the union govt. Ind has no national language. All major languages are seen as equals.

 

The Hindi speaking population is able to maintain its culture, not dwell on learning other local languages, on top of that maybe even try to undermine a regional culture. 
 

This is a dangerous trend. I am happy that South (for whatever reasons) has been proactive. 
 

The reason to oppose such an expansion is not as important as first trying to preserve the regional culture and arrest such an expansion including by misusing the name of nation (Nations change with time, your culture remains).

We have become united with an understanding that our local culture will not be threatened. 
 

Now if a narrative is being woven that to stay united people have to standardize (including by accepting Hindi) than that goes against the original idea. And maybe the idea of India as a nation could be debated.

Second, local Hindu culture is being marginalized by trying to advance a language spoken by a majority (and then they migrate to relatively better non-Hindi regions). What is the fault of those who have managed their population well? 
 

So do we live to enjoy our culture or live to accommodate those who have hijacked India’s narrative? What is the point of such a country?

I have no info on Mallus (as highlighted in the tweet). If they are talented, they can attract employers. But are they forcing their language on Karnataka? Not many do that.

There are many South Indians who have lived in North while working for govt sectors like BHEL. Pune has an entire colony where Keralites are in majority. They happily celebrate their festivals and no one has any problem. Shetty's own most of the business in and around railway station. 
Where this will end, if every community starts hitting against each other.

This is unrelated. No one is even asking Hindi migrants (many of them offer value to a work place) to be treated badly.

You don’t need to hit on each other. The point is on regional people safeguarding their regional culture, and not getting influenced by narrative of Hindi imposition. 
 

I don’t prefer when I drive into a mall where I am met with someone speaking in Hindi about cleaning my car.  I don’t appreciate it when bank employees try to speak in Hindi despite knowing Gujarati.  I want to speak in Gujarati in Gujarat.

It is not like I speak in Gujarati when I go to Delhi. 

Which language do you speak when you go to Mumbai ? Is it Marathi ?
Secondly, you speak Hindi coz you know how to speak that, imagine if Delhi makes a rule that people will only speak Punjabi there. Will you learn Punjabi ?

It's not hard to foresee how this will play out. Hindi imposition and excessive migration are all closely linked.
