Now will Kohli do the honour of stepping down from RCB captaincy?

Only if it was as planned as you are talking about.  Teams who plan don't pick such inexperienced bowlers in Siraj who was horrible when he played for India, Khejroliya a rookie, Saini, and Aniket who have barely played any high pressure T20 cricket. if there was any plan, they would have picked likes of Chahar and Khaleel two top wickets takers of SMA trophy or Prasidh Krishna who did well for SMA champions Karnataka.  and yes, they do make list of players but auction dont always go according to plan and we dont know whether Kohli was involved in that process or not.  We can for sure blame Kohli for selection of playing XI and on-field decisions but whole squad is mostly picked by coaches and management.

Siraj may not be their preferred choice. But probably in the pool. I don't think any franchisee goes on the table with just a set of 4 batsmen, 4 bowlers, 3 wicket keepers and 4 all rounders. The pool is probably more in count in each skill-set.

We can only speculate whether Siraj was their first preferred bowler or last. It may also be debated Siraj was not on their bowlers target pool, but they had to get him for reasons beyond their control (price, someone else using RTM for other bowlers they wanted etc etc.)

The point is that the bowling attack was weak over the years and this year too they did not make any improvement in reinforcing it. The bowlers are still conceding one run more than their batsmen are scoring. Even 240 is not safe with RCB bowling attack. I think someone chased even 240 against RCB once in IPL. Forgot which team it was.

When Virat is getting 17 cr and ABD 11 cr, the remaining auction purse restricts the selection of remaining players. End up with too many players just to fill up squad spots than actual performers.

their auction strategy for bowlers was

Nehra quota- kulwant, saini , siraj (good job nehra g)

bowlers who destroyed them last yr- NCN, woakes, umesh (if u cnt beat them, buy them)

not a bad job, but pick a team for chinnaswamy shud be the better criteria

Virat has been poor with selections in the Indian team has well. RCB have Tim Southee sitting in the dugout and also have Navdeep Saini. Why aren't these two playing? What is the point of playing two kiwi all-rounders when you are not even bowling one of them in the entire match? Grandhomme has been active playing cricket for NZ but Anderson has been injured and out of the game for a long time. He gave him 4 overs to bowl in the game. RCB's problem is with bowling. They need to get rid of Cory Anderson and play either Chris Woakes or Tim Southee. They also have the option of having Parthiv Patel opening the batting and benching Quinton De Kock to play both Woakes and Southee. This will mean that they have 2 good experienced international bowlers and they can try Saini in the place of Siraj.

Patel

Kohli

ABD (INT)

Mandeep

CDG (INT)

Sundar

Woakes (INT)

Umesh

Saini

Southee (INT)

Chahal

The above looks much more balanced X1 than the one they picked for the game today. They have Sundar and Chahal as the spinners. Woakes, Southee, Saini and Umesh to take care of the pace bowling. CDG can give Kohli couple of overs if needed. So that gives them 7 bowling options and 2 all-rounders in the middle. They cannot play QDK and the two Kiwi all rounders in the X1. If they still want to play QDK, they can drop Woakes and play Saini and Siraj but that is not ideal.

Southee is not fit.

Kohli is a batting genius...he should just leave captaincy to someone else...not worth it. He will be better of to be always known as one of the Best Batsman of the game.

Doing very well as India skipper

i remember last year icf was hyping Rohit for India skipper cos of ipl . Some games as Indian skipper soon changed that :phehe:

RCB playing 11 for the next match should be

Quinton

Manan

Virat

ABDV

Mandeep

Colin

Sundar

Woakes

Murugan Ashwin

Umesh

Aniket

RCB big problem is their bowling, Umesh, Aniket, Woakes M Ashwin, Sundar, Colin 's bowling attack will be far better than

Anderson, Negi, Siraj, Chahal.

He is fit now. He did have some issues at the start of the tournament but he is fit now and should be picked right away. He is an active player at the international level and his experience will help RCB. Both him and Woakes need to be in the X1 for the next game.
