It's quite the opposite, Madras filter coffee as its known in the south, has about 75% coffee mixed with 25% of chicory. It makes the coffee less bitter and more palatable . Plus it gives the makers better margins. I do like the coffee without chicory we get in starbucks etc., but prefer the ones with the chicory mix.
