Also how the think tank makes strategy is next important aspect. Rabada was given ODI and test place in the same year he enjoyed success in Under 19 tourney.He was in form and they rewarded him.Today in 4 years times he has achieved leadership role for a team like SA. Whereas, our think tank will not give chances to new comers. Reasons of playing more FC/List A will be given.Process and all that.We waste the form of the talented players which is so very important in initial debut.Have we given debut to someone like Saffers have given to Rabada.

Keep in mind that the Proteas could afford to blood Rabada early because they had Steyn and Morkel as their 1st 2 pacers.

SA did have a better pace attack and they could afford a young debutant. That is correct.

 

We have pacers with enough experience. But the quantity cannot override quality.

 

The other point that you bought forward about the culture is most relevant imo than anything else. Like we will produce more ATG batsmen than any conditions in last few decades, we have struggled to produce a ATG bowler. The system and culture of pace in terms of pace and quality is slowly changing though and there is a ray of hope of one ATG in next decade. The more stronger the pace culture gets in domestic criicket the much better for producing ATG pacers. And then the coach aspect obviously along with getting the players to debut early , especially in the case of pacers.

I back yadav but when was his last 5-for? Pandya, ishant and bumrah have stepped up. Shami is the same so umesh could replace, but shami on song trumps yadav. Its difficult for yadav atm.

This will be his best series because he is providing support from sidelines. Best place for him to be.. @speedheatchicken is heart broken but it is what it is...

Shami has one 5-fer and one 4-fer in his last 5 tests.

Definitely deserves another go this series. Has good enough stats from his 1st match and seemed to have discovered the right line in the 2nd innings

Yes i just hope he gets his rhythm back. He's been bowling better this time in England and he's a superior bowler under Kohli but lacks discipline. I want to see him steamroll england with the new ball or after 10-15 overs at least. 

 

His batting when it clicks can get us 20+ runs as well. Just need him to be more consistent and rip through sides like he can.
