This kind of abuse of the laws is deplorable and my heart goes out to the guy, but we all agree the other way around is more common. India is a patriarchal society with a significant amount of Indian men having this false sense of self-entitlement and also many think of the other gender as an object. Obviously, a lot of it is in the poor economic class due to lack of education (not the bookish kind), but I have seen the same attitude even among economically prosperous types. The way out of this is interaction across race and caste boundaries which is positive with the educated millenial generation and later, but still a vast portion of the junta are living meal to meal and they know nothing else, let alone how to treat a woman with dignity and respect.
