So even if own PM does any kind of corruption - few narrow minded ppl will just look towards Pakistan and take out all the frustration towards them and then sit back calmly without any botheration of this corruption ... that's actually laughable.

On the other hand - they actually throw out their own PM due to corruption ...

Hand-picking companies for a defence contract does not automatically imply corruption. If the administration had good reasons to believe that company A is more trustworthy with national defence secrets, they have full perogative to hand-pick them. Security related issues are never an open contract- not even in the US of A.LM can't just partner with any new startup over F-35 software, either FYI.

I don't think Reliance had any type of experience prior to it.

No Indian corporate has that.  They have to start from somewhere.  Even Tata and Adani have got such contracts and this off set clause is not just with Reliance.  Several other Indian companies will be getting the same.  Reliance is just one partner.  There are 72 vendors that will be working with Dassault.

Reliance had bought Pipavav defence in 2015 which has experience in defence related manufacturing.
