Ohh... yes .. then it would be Rahane/Ashwin in place of  Vijay/Rahul to provide the inevitable situation of 10/2. I simply don't understand why you are defending Pujara at any cost. Isn't it  the team that needs to be given the utmost priority?? Rahane opening,  means a disastrous start guaranteed because he does not possess the technique to  withstand the new ball. One batsman

was there in Vijay , but he unfortunately regressed a lot for the disappointment of all.Now the best option remaining is Pujara.

Rahane is also a relatively good top order batsmen. He probably can play more positively by opening in rest of the series esp at Melbourne and Sydney where spin can be a factor later on and something he could struggle with if he plays down the order .... If he is not up to the task, other options can be evaluated

4 spinners ? halwa hai kya ?

it is not about 'spinners' or 'fast bowlers' ..... it is  only all about taking wkts..... it can be more or less guaranteed that  a combo of

Ashwin/Jadeja/Kuldeep/Bhuvi/Bumrah can be more or less as effective with the ball as Umesh/Shami/Ishant/Bumrah .

reasons :

the seam bowlers  Umesh/Shami/Ishant/Bumrah  all baring perhaps Bumrah  are mediocre  in SENA.Their record in SENA  reveals that only.Even Bumrah is yet to prove in SENA  a lot , because as of now  almost all the pitches he played in are generally bowling friendly in nature. That being the case , if 4 seam bowlers are played in any match  , it is a given that  'at least 1 of them if not 2' would end up

having far lesser impressive numbers than the others in general. We need not go for details , the on going test is an example of exactly what I am saying.

Ashwin in the first test itself proved he can be  as efffective  if not better than any seam bowler in AUS. More over he has  a proven track record against left handers. Jadeja too has been effective  as a whole in SENA considering the generally tougher  bowling conditions  in which he has placed in these countries. Also left arm  spinners tend to do generally better in AUS than right handers.

Kuldeep is that extremely unknown mystery bowler. With the generally much bouncier AUS wkts along with the spin he generates

he can be most dangerous with the ball even to the extends of turning the entire series in India's favour. Bhuvi too has been

effective in conditions where  there is atleast a bit of a swing for him.And all these above can be very effective with the bat as well

unlike the current going lot who can't even put 10 run together on the board.

If nothing remarkable happens in our 2nd innings at Perth .... I would go with the below for Melbourne (from those in the squad and assuming everyone is fit)

Rahane / Ashwin

Shaw

Pujara

Kohli

Vihari

Ashwin / Rahane

Pant

Kuldeep

Ishant

Shami

Yadav

Lmao yadav. You have lost it recently

The team by OP is the worst bowling lineup we can play. Exclusion of Shami leaves us with only one wicket taking bowler in Bumrah. Bhuvi over Ishant? :congrats:Add to misery, 3 spinners in playing 11 in Australia?

Yeah.... I forgot ...Ashwin was  laying eggs at Adelaide, didn't take a wkt there at all even for medicine .Thanks for reminding.
