Why current team management hasn't been able to build a stable core of team even in 4 years?

So you're forgetting that S.K. Warne was banned for diuretics, a ban which could've been much longer? Only Mcgrath was MIA from the best possible attack that Aus could field, you're also ignoring the current series in which Aus best bats are missing & we're no.1 (2+ years) not Aus?

Wow that's some next level BS, not to mention we were one DRS review away from winning the series in 2004 & 2008 & crucial moments of that series were tainted by suspect decisions from Bucknor & Co.

2006 tour we were again 1 catch away from a series win, SRT dropped Prince early morning on the second day. He scored a ton, we lost the series then & there.

2010 SA tour - really no Morkel, Kallis? If we go by your standards then Aus have no bowlers today & didn't have any bowlers back in 1992 either.

2011 - sure let's forget everything that led up to that massacre & we'll also conveniently forget how Kohli, Shastri chose not to play good warm-ups in SA, England & Aus. We'll also pretend that the horrendous selection policy & nonsensical backing of LO specialists has cost us!

So many ifs and buts. We also would have won series in SA and England this year IF few things had gone our way.

Our so called fab 5 used to play heaps of practice matches before every tour, only to get slaughtered.

Whether intentional or not, they have created a situation in which only Kohli is a sureshot selection in the XI. This is so not the way to build a core team. That being said, players like Rahane, Rahul, etc have massively regressed, Vijay seems to be in terminal decline, and Pujara has largely disappointed in SENA. If they all play like fattus and flop again and again, what can team management do? Bottomline, both team management and players themselves are responsible for lack of a strong core team.

First time. 2014 was Dhoni's team and he the the official captain for that series.

Virat captained in 2 tests, including the first. It's like giving credit to Kumble for 2008 series win, in India vs Aus. And when you say first tour under Virat, how many times did Dada, Dravid or Kumble captain the side in Aus? You're really running thin on the excuses here, even if we give you the benefit of doubt.

1. The squad announced for that 2014 series, Dhoni was named official captain.

2. The topic is Kohli vs so called fab 5.

3. The current series isn't over yet.

It doesn't matter who the official "captain" was, fact is we lost under Virat just like we did under Dhoni at the Gabba.

So it's Virat vs the entire Fab 5, yeah I know who's winning that battle?

So if (big if) we win this series will you remember that Aus is fielding their worst batting lineup without 2 main batters?

Why don't we revisit this thread/topic in 2 years time when, I assume, Aus will field their best team?

Our fab 5 had a very good chance of winning in 2004 in the absence of Warner/McGrath and also the flat pitches that were dished up. All our fab 5 could achieve was a draw. If we are still boasting that as an achievement, why can't this series?....against one of the best bowling attacks ever on very spicy pitches?

Do we then not give Aus kudos for their 2004 return series win? India never fielded their first choice 11 in any of the tests, SRT was missing from the first 2, Dada from the last 2, Harbhajan for the 3rd test & I'm not even counting the horror decisions in that series. We should probably also strip the Ashes off England in 2005, since they never won when Mcgrath was playing.

The fact is injuries happen all the time, every time & teams work around that disadvantage especially at home. It's no big deal if you're the no.1 side (2004 Aus) nor should the current no.1 side have an excuse for being rolled over consistently in the 2nd or 4th innings of a test, even if it's away from home.

Which ind team management ever built a team for these conditions .Name 1 ind team from our entire history which would have won against sa ,eng aus in 2018.

Really ? 2006-09 Indian team was very strong away from home and had capable personals .2007 Indian team which went to England would beat this current England team or maybe draw at worst 2-2 in England.

That team had peak zak, sree,rp who would have loved the current conditions in England and kumble who was the tail killer at that time .

2007-08 Indian side would beat this Australian side .

Not sure about the saf tour .
