Man management is one of the dozen skill you need.

Others are:

Instruction

Skill developement

analysis

Staretegy

Guididng

Tactis

Technique

Good coaches barely sleep 4 to 5 hrs during the season.

Shastri is none of that. An MBA can do better man management than Shastri. Let us just get someone from IIM Ahmedabad and let them do it.

and we are winning without any skill development . :phehe:

Yes an cricketers wud listen to an MBA.....Man management cannot happen if others are not willing to listen and why wud they listen to an MBA

People tend to forget Pandya’s bowling in world t20 semis against WI. If they had proper fast bowler who knows they would have won that cup.

We lost that game due to rahane's innings. All bowlers were struggling due to dew ...so no doubt others wud have had to

Don’t put too many bits abd pieces cricketers like pandya, jadeja, Kedar and make it another Pak team. Have specialists with  no more than 2 bits and pieces cricketer in playing 11 to win WC.

pandya is a specialist hitter in the team and thats a specialist job in modern cricket ......

Kedar is not bits and pieces either

3 good pacers are must to have a chance to win WC outside subcontinent.

2003 WC- Srinath, Zak, Nehra

That team also lacked a hitter at 7 which is why ganguly said many times that he wished he had dhoni at 7 in 2003

2013 CT- B.Kumar, Ishant, Yadav

Jadeja batting was very good in that tournament

yes to some extent plus Pandya's bowling did not help either.Thats why I don't like Pandya to be in the team.He will bowl more than he will bat.His bowling is needed more than his batting. So in search of his hitting once in 10 matches you sacrifice a strike bowler who can get more with ball.

If team has five good batsmen plus keeper who can hit, they don't need guys like Pandya.India should be giving chances to Gill who may cement his spot at no4 and Pant at no 6 suddenly the team is not bad at all.Pandya or Shankar may not be needed at all. They can be in the squad but important matches play five bowlers.

What did this so called specialist hitter do in England in odis???Hit 20 runs and give away 70 runs with ball. There is no hard and fast rule that you need no7 as an allrounder. It all depends on your team composition. India's best bet is play five bowlers and five batsmen with keeper who can hit. Will that happen I don't think so.

whose bowling helped they all were struggling due to dew and which bowler was an option then ?

A genuine allrounder is one who fits into the team purely as a batsman or a bowler. Pandya at best is a bits 'n pieces player.  He can't finish his quota nor does he fit purely as a batsman. If we select him, we need Jadhav or another batsman finishing up the quota of 10 overs.

Pandya can easily fit in as a batsman in this team. when he got the chance bat up the order in top 6, he became MOS and was IIRC the 2nd top run getter for us but his job in this team is different and that is to bat at 7 because this team has plenty who can bat in top 5 but none to bat at 6-7 and do the hitting job and score quickly when needed.  Moreover, every player has a role to play.  You cannot judge and compare Pandya to some batting in top order.  He averages 30 in ODIs with an SR of 114.  Even Stokes who bats in top 6 averages just 36 in ODIs with an SR of 94.  In bowling, Stokes averages 41 with the ball, worse than Pandya and takes less than 1 wicket per game and ER over 6, both worse than Pandya.  Pandya is as good or even better than Stokes in some aspects in ODIs.

Even the best ODI team ever did not play 5 specialist bowlers despite having a bowling attack of Lee, Mcgrath, Warne, Gillespie.

It was not just one series, he stunk in SA too. This player last scored more than 50 was in sept 2017.What good is this player doing for the team if he is in the team for his non existing power hitting. He has to bowl every match but he may not be needed to bat every match, so what is more important?? you tell me.

India is not every other team.Indian team is constructed very differently with specialist players except Dhoni and Jadhav. Jadhav is very good batsman who is perfect for no 6.

at 7 its diff to be consistent , if ull play a bowler he ll hardly ever score a 50 and none aprt from shami among bowlers is a slogger which is very important at 7

and whats wrong with his bowling??? eco of 5.5 and wkt in evry game.....excellent in field ....can tonk the ball thats enough. If 4 bowlers cnt do the job ....5 wudnt either most days

Times have changed, India won world cup with Yuvi as fifth bowler. But now it won't work , they need five full bowlers plus guy like Jadhav.

yes times have changed and totals are becoming huge thats why role of lower order hitters are becoming very crucial specially for indian team where we have dhoni n no idea who no.4 is

No team goes with full 5 bowlers a lot of emphasis is on all rounder, power hitters , fielding coz thats becoming the diff now

It was first series for Kulcha in SA but they won series for India. Pandya has not shown any ability to hit fast bowling which he will face when playing in England.

You want to carry a player who has hit 50 over 2 years ago and let him stink up bowling. India is better off playing a very good bowler who will take wickets every match and keep other team from scoring.

There is no hard and fast rule that they need to have bits and pieces player whose bowling is needed more than his batting for the team.

One thing is certain Pandya will bowl every match he plays but he may not bat every match so unless his bowling is upto mark he is no use for the team.

as a 5th bowler, you need someone who is a better batsman than a better bowler.  All teams have weak 5th bowlers. if your top 4 bowlers are good, you dont need a specialist 5th bowler, especially when you specialist 5th bowler is averaging 36.
