Number Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 Ever since AQ top leadership was finished, US wanted to be done with this place. Not sure if they were even serious about eliminating Taliban fully and establishing a democratic government. Insurgencies can't be controlled by dropping bombs from 25K fts and returning back to safest hideouts. So Taliban now controls more territory than it did at the time of 9/11, has more money and apparently more power. India was doing what it could to please US and UN. Keeping relations with Afghanistan democratic govt cordial, training Afghan troops and building infrastructure there. Deep down I think our intelligence knew that putting too much effort is a waste as Taliban will rise eventually. US will probably withdraw its troops after Trump declares a political victory after talks with Taliban. The real game for our agencies and MEA will start now. If we send our troops fighting alongside Afghan security forces then we are risking high casualties and Taliban turning against us if it comes back to power and that seems very likely. In my opinion, we shall keep training Afghan forces, provide them weapons and every support but keep a window open for talks with Taliban.
Clarke Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 Cant do much by ourselves in Afghanistan, we dont have that occupying mindset and nation building is required at home. We should keep the heat on padosi land from all 4 sides, i.e. ocean as well that puts a cost for supporting terror. Pak will now claim to have defeated USSR & USA Gollum and Number 2
Straight Drive Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 Coalition troops have killed almost 70,000 terrorists in retaliation to 9/11 which included the top most terrorist in the world and many others highly ranked on most wanted lists. coalition have done their job and around 14,000 troops still remain in Afghanistan. India meanwhile has done the job of investing heavily in Afghanistan. More that $3 billion investment is done and much more to follow once more areas are safe for industrialisation . Chabahar port is success story for trade and more importantly the port is now operated by India. India will continue to invest without getting involved in direct warfare support by deploying army personnel. Financially it is beneficial for India as well as strategically as Pakistan are cornered by India, Iran and Afghanistan. It seems India will help up build Afghanistan and gain from investment as well as bilateral trade
chewy Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 Afghanistan end game was always for white people to kill Muslims at will for 9/11 revenge, no one gives a sh!t for this nation For India better to.just fund militants and provide weapons to allow attacks in Pakistan

To impose more strict version of islam. What if they are successful ? They will turn their guns toward india. Better to leave muslim nations on their own. Support secular liberals their but apart from it we can do nothing
