Zap_Brannigan
Probably because symmonds got confused on which ball he should focus on. It was the quintessential dilemma of Love Vs Work. Link to comment
King
I think it wasn't the right thing what Symonds did. What if he broke the streaker's shoulders or something? He's not a cop or a security fella to tackle the streaker. Link to comment
King Tendulkar
symonds was out of order. That was assault. It was clear he had no bombs strapped to him and not a terrorist so no need for it. Link to comment
Sachinism
theres an article on cricinfo about symonds knocking him over i wanna see it, but i dont lol Link to comment
Gambit
ICC might actually charge him for this. Link to comment
Sachinism
The ICC's Level 4.2 regulation covers "physical assault on another player, umpire, referee, official or spectator", but it is highly unlikely Symonds will be punished. Link to comment
cochise
Yes, not very good by Symonds, assaulting the public. Still, benefit of the doubt. The streaker was possibly looking to get friendly with him Greek style... Link to comment

IndianRenegade
I am with Symonds, the streaker deserved it! Link to comment
cochise
Just because someone deserves something does not give you the right to administer it. And it was not self-defence either. What if the spectator was seriously injured, which could happen...what then? Irresponsible. Still, I am not saying that he should be charged. However, I am sure Harbhajan would have been had it been him that shoulder charged the spectator. What was interesting is the light demeanour and rapidity in which this incident has been dismissed by the CA and ICC. That is what is interesting to me. Link to comment
cochise
And for a different Aussie take on Symonds: http://blogs.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/monty/index.php/dailytelegraph/comments/long_live_streakers/ If Andrew Symonds can drop the shoulder on a streaking fan, can he really defend the charge that he’s a thug? The footage of all rounder Symonds attacking a harmless streaker is some of the most talked about action of the day. A skinny bloke upholding a larrikin tradition that usually makes everyone stop and have a laugh, was barged to the ground by the biggest player in the game. There was no provocation, Symonds was in no danger, he just stepped towards the bloke and dropped him. Big hero. It’s difficult to know why Symonds shouldn’t be on assault charges. Old school players used to have a joke with the streaker who was usually being comically chased by police. The players and fans were usually cheering on a streaker. Yes there are exceptions, like that goose Terry Alderman who chased a streaker, tackled him, dislocated his own shoulder and was out of the game for a year. What a genius. There are other examples of players who take themselves too seriously as the self-appointed Pitch Police, but mostly, it’s considered a lark when it happens. Either way, there has rarely been a cricketer the size and shape of a rugby league second rower who takes it upon himself to drill a hapless civilian. The Indians are on to something with their Symonds obsession. The land of gurus and enlightenment know that we have a cricketer so neanderthal that he should sleep in a cage. Symonds is so prized in India that they want to take his freak show on the road and have paid a record amount for him to perform at the IPL. Show him a nude man and watch him go off. The death of streaking idiots means the death of a tradition so moronic that is simply must stay part of cricketing culture. If you can’t piss yourself laughing at someone so mental as to run on a field naked, then you need to relax more. He is scathing...but very funny...:hysterical: Link to comment
