there is an aspect called leading from the front which is the most important for a captain... Ranatunga was ok in that regard in 1996 , but Kapil was literally  towering  in that  aspect in 83 . Bat avg: of 60.6 str: of 108.99 .Bowl stats of 20.41, 2.91.To add to that his fielding and captaincy.

Er. Nobody considers Imran the best ever captain . They consider him one of the greatest allrounders and a fine leader but tactically - not particularly great.
