Introspection by Batting Stats only underlines massive error by Selectors, Shastri, Kohli

I think everyone knew after coasting through group phase (thanks mainly to bowlers and Rohit) how Indian batting line-up was brittle due to selection errors, injuries and Kohli's inane selections.

See below batting stats from last 3 years (3 years used to allow 1 year honeymoon/good bye after WC 2015), in the SF, the top 6 India had only two guys, Rohit and Kohli, who averaged 40+, scored 1000+ runs and hit more than a single 100! It was incredible that Dhoni never came in No.4! considering he is the most experienced cricketer in the WC!

 

Compare the top 6 lining-up for other teams in their last match and India's Semi-final just proves to be even more baffling. 

 

Major blunders:

1) Selecting Shankar to play at No.4 without pedigree or experience to play at No.4

2) Throw Pant into deep end to bat at no.4 (had only played 4 ODI games prior to WC), where the eff is Dhoni?

3) Realise Shankar is not good enough, drop him, call-up Mayank with ZERO ODI experience (where is Rayudu, Pandey, Iyer?????)

4) Jadhav gets dropped, WC 2019: 5 inns, 3 not outs, 1 x 50!! (guy averages 42.12 at 102 SR in last 3 years) for legendary mental midget Dinesh Karthik

4) In SF, Chasing 240 in tricky conditions, down 3 wkt, in comes Pant, then comes in DK, then comes in Pandya, where the eff is Dhoni hiding

5) After Dhawan's injury, really needed someone with experience and bucket load of runs to come into top 4, i.e. Dhoni

6) And not batting related, but not picking in-form Shami, or in these cloudy conditions could have gone in with three quicks

 

Six massive blunders from Team management, you gotta have consequences for such poor calls, if Kohli can't be called a retard then not sure what you can call him.

Not scoring is still understandable. If you watch those innings, choke job written all over it.

And Everytime got out against a left arm fast bowler

Even Pakistan got their combo right towards the end. 

 

Aus did well because they got their  combo right at the start but once they got injury issues they were screwed because their combo was screwed

 

SA never looked good because their combo was messed up.

 

Nzl sneaked through because they have the perfect combo and so did England once Roy came back.

 

India after a long World Cup still doesn’t know their X1 yet. We will still take 2-3 years to figure out our top X1 

 

we got lucky and got far on the back of 3-4 players. In fact one of our top performer Shami was dropped 

 

Clowns are running this team.

 

All the jingoist sipahis on the forum kept talking like they are the true patriots when it was clear as in day and night of the issues in this team and we knew one bad game would fk us right from the start and that’s what we are pointing at.

 

Heads need to roll.
