That’s call favouritism mate , It is like the way that Indian cricket is my personal property and my friend needs a job so I give him a job in expense of someone more talented . Other way is to be star struck in Indian Team is to be play with mediocre players like Yadav , Rahul , Dhoni , Shankar or some extent Dhawan too and be hero in India which will mean more sponsorships and fame in India . Rohit winning 4 ipl and also Asia cup n nidhas has put more pressure on him, kohli not winning any ipl and loosing 2 ICC tournaments despite being Fav wud have affected his confidence more. I hve never used insecure word lightly like ppl do here but incase of kohli its evident now. Winning so many bilateral gave Kohli n shastri super confidence that they can win all but only to be shaken in multination or multi team tournament.......thats its a diff ball game nevada 1 Link to comment

Money , power , fame and big brands association the more you have the more you want , it is very apparent from his team selection and policies unless someone closed his / her eyes . If he is fair and honest let give Gill , Iyer , Manyak , Sarfraz a chance and see who stands where and the best man Rohit captain the team . mani sha 1 Link to comment

It’s not short of money money plus power is a bad combo add starpower and heroworship the only guy whom I think was immune was Sachin - he just wanted to play for selfish reasons hence prolonged his career . Kohli will want to play for powe stardom and the sponsorship - he runs the team like a dictator and don’t remember any batter flourishing under him pujara is a good example . If any batsman will likely outshine him he will not allow him to grow . Especially in middle order . He is lucky to have bumrah and shami in tests . And Pandya . Else we are a pedestrian test batting lineup odi — good players are being kept out t20- why is he playing when u can give chance to youngsters in the format ? Arvind32 1 Link to comment

Also, once you start earning, your regular financial commitments go up. While an average Joe typically signs up for a car loan and home loan, multi-million dollar earner sportsmen take on commitments that only millionaires can afford. A lavish home, a yacht, a private island, investments in one or more business ventures which may not be cash flow positive and need money pumped in to keep them going, etc. To keep all these going, the sportsman has to maintain the same level of income or better. Also, the endorsement deals themselves have performance clauses. So, if a captain can create the right conditions for him to perform well(like picking weaklings so he can be the #1 by a distance), then why wouldn't he be tempted to do so?
