Also, Krunal Pandya and Deepak Chahar are not even an year old in int’l cricket. That’s 8 young players in the 14 member squad.

 

Batting is where the main issue is. Rohit should have been captain with no Dhawan and Kohli. And if Kohli is insecure about Rohit, rest all 3 and make Rahul the T20I captain.

He'll be back, don't worry about it. They're just resting him so that he doesn't fail in useless bilaterals & questions aren't asked when they select him for WT20 & his experience

Batting to same hi hai 

 

 

Has been the case for a long long time  now -  Imagine they dropped KL Rahul, our best T20 batsman in last2-3 years, to accommodate Dhawan who has largely been poor in T20Is. No change in batting strategy at all despite batsmen losing us the  critical tournaments. in the `last 5-6 years. Not one unconventional batsman was given a go while the bowling unit kept changing.

The other side to it is if Pant continues his good T20 form (match winning 65* in the last match vs WI), then there is no way Dhoni is coming back to the T20 team.

I'd like to refer you back to exhibit A, India's away tours in 2011, but then there's probably a dozen other exhibits where you'd know performance don't matter for this TM & that shameless leechad would still get preference anyway. If they could (virtually) throw the most important trophy in cricket, which they did, then what's a WT20 in comparison? They'll come every couple of years now - the next one is in India remember, so another chance for oldie to shine in his strongest format

Pant needs to score a couple of T20 100s to shut the T20 door permanently

Pant just blew the opportunity to shut the door on Dhoni by a fraction

He needs to go all out in upcoming home series(need not be ultra aggressive in quest of quick runs) or else we might see more of Dhoni till 2020 atleast

Considering our upcoming home season is filled with t20 series' against Bangladesh, WI, Zimbabwe & knowing team management choices in the past  Shikhar Dhawan's place is absolutely cemented.
