There is basically no change in this squad & the one selected for t20s against WI. Kohli should've taken a much needed break.

Very much on expected lines . Dunno what people are cribbing about.. if you really thought Kohli will rest to give Gill a debut, you're living in fool's paradise.

 

Good to see Saini and Sundar in the squad..  Good to see Dhoni missing and Pant being the sole keeping option

No Dhoni and Bhuvi. That’s the biggest plus.

 

Youngsters picked - Shreyas Iyer (23), Rishabh Pant(21), Washington Sundar (21), Rahul Chahar (18), Navdeep Saini (25), Khaleel Ahmed (21)

Also, Krunal Pandya and Deepak Chahar are not even an year old in int’l cricket. That’s 8 young players in the 14 member squad.

 

Batting is where the main issue is. Rohit should have been captain with no Dhawan and Kohli. And if Kohli is insecure about Rohit, rest all 3 and make Rahul the T20I captain.

Dhoni has been kept out but barely. If Pant gets injured, he will be promptly brought back. Once in, who will dare to send him out? His "wealth of experience" will be touted as the reason to keep him around for the T20 WC.  If Dhoni makes a couple of good scores in the T20s, he might even waltz back into the ODI side to be the senior player alongside whom youngsters can play and learn for a year or two.
