Shakib being their biggest star ever probably has a political pull at the highest level but at the same time the timing is very convenient as well.

Plot twist: he did shady things and he knew ICC hounds were closing in. Decided to schedule a strike against BCB at the right time. When ICC came for the ban, people would start pointing fingers at BCB for selling out Shakib to show him who is the boss. F*cling genius lol
