gakgupta Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Only one guy who performs consistently in ICC tournaments is Dhawan and then comes Rohit ( to certain extent) Big tournament players are very very rare esp in one dayers....and Shikar is on the top of that list.... There are already discussions on dropping him for Rahul. I m a big fan of Rahul. As much as i like Rahul, Dhawan shouldn't be dropped for him in one dayers.... Dhawan has little value to Test cricket or T20 cricket . But he is worth in gold for one dayers. He is one guy who stands tall when the back is against wall... I am big fan of kohli for transforming indian pace bowling and the way he mastered chasing....but he is total pussy when it comes to big matches in one dayers.... He chickened out in 2015 semis and 2019 semis... ...everyone will have a bad day but the way he got out in those 2 matches says a lot about his character. He was totally overwhelmed by the situation.... Players like gauti and shikar are very rare and they should be given the respect they deserve.......sometimes statistics will not tell the entire story Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk Hakuna Matata 1
Hakuna Matata Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 (edited) Agreed, people shouldn't troll a player a like shikhar who always performed when it mattered in Odis. He didn't do anything wrong in odi. Even when he is injured in worldcup vs aus he still went on to bat with pain and scored match winning 100. There is nothing wrong for such a player in trying for t20s too. Everyone knows Rahul is a better t20 player but still you shouldn't hate dhawan for trying for that place. Not choosing the best 11 is Captain's mistake not his. Edited January 12, 2020 by Hakuna Matata sergio04 1
ShoonyaSifar Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 ICC ODI tournament - Dhawan was always a shoo-in. There were no questions for him in 2019 WC. By 2023 WC, he will be 37+. Would you really want to go in a ODI WC with a top three which is 36, 37 and 34 years old? Coming to ICC T20 WCs - Dhawan's record across 2 T20 WCs is: 7 matches, 74 runs, average of 11. Doubt if any top order batsman even from Associate nations has such a poor record in ICC T20 tournaments His T20 career should have ended immediately after 2016 T20 WC disaster. The mere fact that he feels he is back in the team after a 50 vs a sub-par int'l team is a real tragedy. Being friends with the new captain has its rewards.

Remember when Kl Rahul scored only one 50+ score in his last 22 test innings and still Kohli persisted with him for some time. Everyone said kl must have some videos of Kohli. Now Dhawan became Kohli's best friend? Seems like Rahul handed over those videos to kohli and Kohli is taking his revenge . Still, if a captain chooses his friends over deserved it's Captain's mistake not that player's.
Vk1 Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 He seems to do well in league matches but in the crucial knockout matches he isn't able to replicate that form.

How does that justify picking Dhawan despite his stinking poor T20WC record and in general a mediocre T20I career? While the blame does rest with a pathetically partisan captain, when you hear Dhawan go on and on about how well he'd batted and that he was back in contention for the opening slot.

I never justified picking Dhawan. Rahul is far better than Dhawan in t20 s it's not even close to compare. But , still a player can think he is a good player and can fight for a spot he has every right to fight for it just like any player can. You shouldn't hate him for that is what I am saying. You can troll the captain for that who can't see the difference.
Straight Drive Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Manjot Karla scored a 100 in U19 finals.
gakgupta Posted January 12, 2020 Author Posted January 12, 2020 Along with Dhawan....Pandya and jadeja are big match player....They like the big stages and should be backedSent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
zen Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Format gets confused. Ppl want Dhawan out of ODIs for T20s and Rohit in T20s for his ODIs Not a bad idea to rest both from T20s
