Sooda Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 (edited) The problem with that middle order is the big missing piece of the jigsaw -the lack of sixth bowler, Right now Hardik is seemingly the only option we have; it looks like the management have lost faith with Kedar, which is right given his age and injuries. Shankar should have been in this squad batting at 6 today. I like Manish and wish he had been given a long run at 4; but Iyer has earned that now and in Hardik absence we need to try batting all rounders Edited January 17, 2020 by Sooda
Vilander Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 1, England - Good top middle and lower order. OK pace bowling - spinner who ? 2, Aus - Great top piss poor middle ok lower - great pace and spin 3, Ind - Great top piss poor middle poor lower - Great pace and spin. If Eng can somehow knock off Aus and Ind top order they will win 9 times out of 10.
Vilander Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 Sankar being pathetic in his bolwing and later order hitting means he is not a lower order. Pandya is crucial for India to be number 2 team.
diehardpacer Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 (edited) Iyer & Manish still have not cemented their spots.Especially Manish has not done anything yet. Gill & Mayank are technically better than both Iyer & Manish. Gill,KL,Pant & Pandya at 4,5,6,7 makes batting more strong. But either way need to find a 6th bowler who will bowl 5 -6 overs when needed. Rohit,Dhawan & Kohli must take that responsibility as seniors. If Gill starts bowling atleast off spin, that will increase his chances of getting selected. Alternatively,If Rohit & Dhawan lose their form completely by 2022 ,then Shaw,Mayank,Gill,KL & Kohli can form top 5,which is aggressive at top & stable in the middle.' Kohli has to come down the order to 5 to give others chance to prove themselves. Not much will be gained if top 3 bat for 40 overs in most games. Experimentation is a problem only if you do that with guys like Rayudu,Jadhav .There is nothing wrong in tweaking positions in a bilateral series . Edited January 18, 2020 by diehardpacer
bowl_out Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 If Rohit is injured and out for next match, will they open with Pant and persist with Rahul at 5.. that'll be a bold move if Kohli goes through with it.
