zen Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 (edited) Next 3 WCs are in Aus (T20) and Ind (T20 and ODI), where the games are expected to be played on good batting surfaces. To plan for these tourneys, Ind could have worked on developing high SR batsmen esp. for 6 to 7 positions. Pandya is expected to take one of the slots so the other could have been used to develop batsmen like Pant, who is good enough to play as a specialist batsman. However, what we discovered is Ind keeps going back to the likes of Jadhav (appears to be in the decline stage of his career) and Pandey (who is more suitable for the 3-5 positions). Then you have Jadeja as well who is not a high SR batsman and played for his ability to bat but again there are other options as well that can be developed/discovered. Do we have a plan or has the selection become a game of roulette? Edited February 11, 2020 by zen

zen Posted February 11, 2020 Author Posted February 11, 2020 (edited) In the lead up to the T20 WC in Aus, I am leaning towards the below (assuming everyone is available): Rohit KL Kohli Iyer Pant Pandya A bowling AR or Gill or someone like Rana (IPL19 SR 146), if you want a batsman who can bowl too .... depending on who plays among the top 7, the batting order can adjust we would need a couple of good backups as well PS IPL 2019 Best Batting Strike Rate POS PLAYER Mat Inns NO Runs HS Avg BF SR 100 50 4s 6s 1 AndreRussell 14 13 4 510 80* 56.66 249 204.81 0 4 31 52 2 Hardik Pandya 16 15 6 402 91 44.66 210 191.42 0 1 28 29 3 Sam Curran 9 8 4 95 55* 23.75 55 172.72 0 1 13 3 4 Sunil Narine 12 9 1 143 47 17.87 86 166.27 0 0 17 9 5 Moeen Ali 11 10 2 220 66 27.50 133 165.41 0 2 16 17 6 Rishabh Pant 16 16 3 488 78* 37.53 300 162.66 0 3 37 27 Edited February 11, 2020 by zen
Global.Baba Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Here is my starting T20 line up Rohit Shaw Kohli Iyer Rahul (keeper) Sky (don’t rate him. Think he is a another Jadhav but has earned his shot with consistent Performances being a seasoned performer and checks some criteria like being a batsman who can go from ball 1 and can bowl as well) Pandya Saini Bumrah Kuldeep/Chahal Shami Back ups: If you need an extra spinner Jadeja in place of Saini or play both Kul Cha Like it or but Chahar can bat as well and will be a back up for fast bowlers . Other reserves: Pandey and Sundar Stand by: Axar,Shardul, MSD ( )

Hard to justify slotting KL, one of Ind's best T20 batsman, at 5 where he would not get too many overs to bat .... also Pandya has out performed many "specialist batsmen" so should be batting at 6 or higher .... The likes of Pant have outperformed Shaw in IPL19 both in terms of avg and SR. Shaw can be a backup opener if likes of Rohit lose form (likely to go on decline too like Dhawan)

Shaw as of now has done nothing to push down a player who can soon avg 50 n has s/r of 150 in t20 cricket Edited February 11, 2020 by Ankit_sharma03
