I thought he retired year or two ago. I read it somewhere if i am not wrong.

Classy batsman but underachiever. In a parallel world him and Sadagopan Ramesh would have formed an excellent opening pair, eye-pleasing as well. 

 

His 100 in Cape Town 2007 should have resulted in India's 1st series victory in RSA, sadly not to be. That knock and his 200 against Pak in Kolkata are my favourite memories of him.
