Here I wish to discuss the all-rounder who would be the best choice to join Gary Sobers in the all-time test XI a

Best choice in order to accompany Sobers in all-time XI in order of merit

1.Imran Khan
2.Keith Miller
3.Richard Hadlee
4.Ian Botham
5.Mike Procter
6.Kapil Dev/Vinoo Mankad

7.Jacques Kallis

Imran would be a great choice to accompany Sobers being a great fast bowling all-rounder who could turn matches with the ball.A great fast bowler who was a more than capable batsmen and great captain.Miller was another great match-winner but not proven as a leader or pace bowler as Imran.Botham was the most dynamic but not as great a specialist pace bowler as Imran or Miller. However at his best he was right at the top.In a proper career Procter may well have been the 1st choice as in pure skill arguably he was at the top of the tree.Hadlee was the best fast bowler amongst allrounders but not as adept with the bat as Imran ,Miller,Botham or Procter. On a turning track Vinoo would be right up there to join Gary.Kallis may be the equal of Sobers but his chemistry would be unsuitable to accompany Gary being basically a batting allrounder. He also lacked x factor to win matches.

Fast bowlers win more matches than batsmen  so preferred fast bowling allrounders.

Actually Kallis would be my first choice in my AT XI, a stoic right handed batter as foil to GS left handed flair and both would bat in the top 6, with Gilly at 7 then four out and out bowlers- Hadlee and Marshall were no mugs with the bat and they would be in those 4.

This gives more balance than the alternative , which would be a bowling all rounder as one of 5 bowlers and Sobers batting at 5.

With an allrounder like Sobers in the X1, there's no need to pick another. I would pick Hadlee for his bowling alone with his batting as a bonus.

Exactly .... Sobers (batting all rounder), Gilly (wk all rounder), and Hadlee (bowling all rounder), along with Marshall (a mini bowling all rounder), combination gives an unparalleled breath and depth to a team
