As we have been making ATG Indian ODI squad some places are still not entirely owned , so which young Indian player will make it to top 7

  1. shaw - wud be tough for him as he ll compete with - sehwag, ganguly , dhawan, gambhir, rohit. Sachin n Rohit are already ATG in that format
  2. Gill- one of the best talents in the world
  3. KL - the most complete batsman
  4. Iyer- currently a strong contender
  5. pant- has enough skill to make it as batsman only
  6. pandya- would be tough for him as he ll compete with kapil n batting at 7 wont help his stats

I like a team with 2-3 ARs and/or unique ability players

Sehwag (Ind's highest SR top order player)

Sachin

Kohli

Yuvi

Dhoni

Pandya

Kapil

Kuldeep

Shami

Bumrah

X - can have a 3rd AR like Irfan, who at his peak bowled and batted well, unique players like Pant, players picked based on stats like Rohit, and so on

much like SA has below

Smith (for captaincy)

QDK

Gibbs/FDP/Amla/....

Kallis

ABDV

Rhodes (sensational fielding and running b/w wkts + good finisher)

Klusener

Pollock

Steyn

Tahir (avg 27, SR 34 iirc)

on a side note, that is an interesting way to hunt .... the fox catches the prey buried deep in snow in this way .... if you like such clips, watch planet earth 2 (the above appears to be from it) .... it is a visual experience!

Shaw/Gill tough because of intense competition in top 3

Iyer tough because his competitor is UV who could also bowl...also not elite against genuine pace (other ATG sides will have some nasty quicks)

Pant tough because MS

Hardik tough because there is a certain someone from Haryana who led his side to a damn WC against the GOAT side at a younger age than when hero was doing a coffee show

That leaves us with only one candidate, India's ATG XI desperately needs a dynamic #5  batsman sandwiched between UV and MS, someone who can either build an innings at 30/3 or explode at 280/3 (42), someone good against both pace and spin, someone who doesn't wilt under pressure, someone who can maneuver the field and run like a gazelle....hope KL can be the answer to that one day. Question marks about his mental toughness but no doubting the ability.

India's world xi for most will be:

Sachin

Sehwag/Ganguly/Gambhir/Rohit/Dhawan

Kohli

KL Rahul - (High chance of him making into world xi if he plays more matches in middle order)

Yuvi

Dhoni

Kapil Dev

Kumble/Bhajji/Ash/Jaddu

Srinath/Shami/Spinner

Zaheer

Bumrah

[#1] No competition for sachin.

[#2] This spot has many players competing and replacing them is gonna be hard job for Gill & Shaw.

[#3] No competition for kohli.

[#4] ? - I think KL Rahul has best chance to be at #4 or even #5 if he plays more matches in the middle order.

[#5] Don't think many are fighting for this spot.

[#6] Will be really hard for Pant to replace Dhoni in this format. In tests & t20 he has better chance of doing that.

[#7] Pandya has chance to play ATG worldcup knock but replacing kapil looks almost impossible to me.

Yes for me he will be but i said this is playing xi most people will pick. Few might pick Sehwag or Ganguly. Also Dhoni has no competition in odis as of now actually like kohli & tendulkar.
