Aus AT ODI 11

Many times, I  see the following listed in Aus AT ODI 11 (selected from retired players):

 

M Waugh 

Gilly (wk)

Ponting

D Jones 

S Waugh 

Bevan

Symonds

Warne

Lee

Lillee

McGrath
12th man: Chappell

I guess, Starc can/will come in place of Lee if they want a left arm pace option (usually retired players are chosen). Some folks prefer McDermott as well. Other points discussed are usually M Waugh & S Waugh vs. Hayden and Hussey respectively.  Border and Clarke, who led 1987 and 2015 teams respectively and can bowl as well, are considered too. But can’t go wrong with any of them. 

What would be your 11-12?

Taylor would have Hussey and Jones in place of Border and Clarke.

I would not have S Waugh, and possibly not Jones... Mainly because of how different batting is now and what the likes or Warner ( or Watson) can bring

Ok if it's only retirees yours is the best 11, a younger S Waugh can chip in few overs of medium pace too

Waugh also did pretty well in both 87 and 99 WCs iirc

Starc will replace Lillie, not Lee. Will have Michael Hussey instead of Jones, Warner instead of Mark Waugh. Steve Smith instead of Steve Waugh.

Watson- i always like a strong 5th bowling option . He avg 40 which is not bad and far from others and 31 with ball. Player who performed in pressure situation
