DomainK
At this time SA looks the most likely victor. But India's chances are not entirely wiped out. Assuming that SA will take a lead of 300, we can still make a strong come back. One thing we have as an advantage right now is time. We can bat carefully and negate chances of an SA victory. Lets not forget that India was trailing by 280 when Laxman played that 281 and India won the match. A good team performance can still do it again. Link to comment
Desi Cartman
India's chances will start to fade as soon as the lead is over 120 .. Its important to get the Africans out under 200 to have a real chance in this test Link to comment
yoda
Only two results: Innings defeat or not. Link to comment
cochise
SA can't lose by an innings...so it's not an option. Not would be the answer. Link to comment
Gambit
Only two results: Innings defeat or not. Umm. RSA have to bat again as we didn't get a substantial lead. We won't be winning by an innings. Link to comment
Laaloo
hmm i predict VVS - DRAvid humungo partnership come on guys dont thrash this team until we lose anywayz Link to comment
Ram
This match is over. The Saffies will score ATLEAST 420, which will give 'em a 350 run lead, with 3 days and one session still left. And seeing the kind of pitch thats here and the quality of the opposition bowlers, there is no way we can bat ourselves out of this. Am sure we will do much better in the 2nd innings ( duh!), but assuming we scored 500 runs in 2 days, that still gives the Saffies ONLY 150 runs to chase in 100-odd overs. As much as its odd to say this , we have lost a 450 over/ 5 day match in the first 20 overs/ 90 mins. Our ONLY chance to even look to claw back into the game is to bowl out the Saffies within a 200-225 run lead, but thats highly unlikely to happen. Tomorrow's first session will seal the fate of this match. Link to comment

yoda
...on Sunday 5pm IST. Saturday around lunch would be my guess, just in time for some nice parathas for veeru and co. Link to comment
cochise
That would mean India would have to score 600 runs in the two sessions after lunch and bowl SA out in the morning session Saturday...seeing as those parathas are being served, the boys should be delivering on schedule. Link to comment
Predator_05
Umm. RSA have to bat again as we didn't get a substantial lead. We won't be winning by an innings. :hysterical: Mast Seriously, i don't think this match is over yet. India have to bat again and they have what it takes to draw this match. The pitch won't have any demons in it as the game progresses - in fact, it will become easier to bat on. Unusual results in good first day bowling conditions are nothing new - I still have the '99 Mohali test vs NZ in the back of my mind right now. I will reserve judgement on the outcome of this match until India finish their 2nd innings. Link to comment
Ram
If this match goes into the 4th day, I would be terribly surprised. Link to comment

The Outsider
South Africa will bat till tea getting close to 400 and then knock over 2-3 wickets by close of play on the 2nd day. India will fold over by tea on the third day and SA will knock over what's left by the end of the 3rd day. Good thing is India will get some time to dig up the Kanpur pitch. Link to comment

fineleg
This match may not even go to 4th day. By 3rd day, India will be reeling, if not down and out. Link to comment
Shehezaada
we still have what we need to draw the game, possibly win it. If we can pick up some early wickets in the morning, we're back in business. Recall that we were bundled out for 83 against NZ at home. They made 215, a lead of 132, and we made over 400 + in our second innings. If we scored close to 650 in the second innings, then we can also score that here. In Antigua also we were behind by a good 100 runs, but a Jaffer double ton earned us a draw. Not over yet guys. Bhajji is on to something special..it's coming. He's bowling superbly right now Link to comment
