I am talking about fringe players

Lets discount

1.upcoming talents like Paddikal, samad, Bishnoi,Jaiswal etc

2.Not retired or players who have no shot or at least confidently say 99% done from

internationals like Rayudu,Jadhav, Dhoni etc.

3..Not mainstream players like Rohit,Kohli,Rahul,Bumrah,Shami,H.Pandya etc

But guys who may be have a shot to shine this IPL and make a come back to the Indian squad in LOI’s or this will probably be it for their LOI international career for the foreseeable future.

Here are some names I can think of

Dhawan (in T20)

Shankar

Mayank (for LOI’s)

Pandey

DK

Dube

Ishant

Umesh

Samson

Siraj

Kaul

Thakur

Krunal Pandya

excluding guys like Shaw,Gill,Saini,Kul-Cha,D.Chahar etc as they will still be in the scheme of things regardless of how this tournament will turn out for them.

1.There are some smart guys who will make runs without taking too much risk and pad up their stats but their impact in winning games would be insignificant -basically selfish  Thus their stats should not have more weight in future selection . But if they help to win matches then its fine . This trick could be used by players who were in the team earlier but now lost , or players who are in danger of losing the place to replacements . We can identify such guys in this list.

  2. Another group who do not bother much and hence not played selfishly to pad up stats - Unless they become consistent , they may not be in contention - this would be  a small group in the above list.

3. Guys who just do not have the quality to be in Indian short format team any more , they have reached the ceiling for further improvement - like kaul, Umesh , Ishant - could be even Dubey. & Siraj if they do not improve .

Just wondering why Unadkutter not in this list ???

these pitches will also reward batsman who will bat till end take less risk

High risk game on two pace wkts wont work that much , now i fear if shaw fails few games they ll switch to rahane

Saini place is secure and with RCB attack sucking he will have to take responsibilty most days like was the case with chahal .

Chahal n Saini as of now looks secure n main stay of RCB bowling

In tests, he will pick his buddy Sharma instead of Saini. Saini didn't get a game in NZ while Ishant got picked without any match practice. When it comes to fast bowling, he always picks Ishant even if he sucks

Is the IPL still an audition for the national team? Don't think it's the case anymore.

for LOI cricket yes

rayudu made his comeback based on IPL

Even unadkat came back in reckoning

Krunal , sundar

This IPL would be good opportunity for Mayank Agarwal to stake his claim for odi.

He should be really in the scheme of things as he has gone through the route of domestic,A team and test team.

Shankar,Siraj are quite nervous when they have the opportunity

Umesh is same after spending so much time with the team.Saini would form a great attack with Shami and Bumrah.

Dubey bowling is very weak with his 118 kmph bowling without any variations. He should have work on his bowling and fitness during the break.

Talking about the fringe players for whom this IPL may be important are other Karnataka players Krishnappa Gautam,Shreyas Gopal and Prasidh Krishna.

They all are from a good domestic side , have played in lots of A matches. They also posses skills which could be useful for the odi side.
