Should we consider the team they play for before praising someone’s performances?

For example- would someone like SKY have the same impact for a team like SRH or would Pandey do better if he played for MI because there is nothing that says SKY is way better than Pandey be it domestic records or anything else.

Similarly a great batsman like Williamson may not be needed in MI or DC but he is very valuable in SRH or May be even Kings X1.

Then you have Cameo Pandya, would he be more useful than say Jason Holder or Stoinis for their respective teams if they had to switch?

  • Pandey Impact is more about batting position then team, he bats at 3 he gets success....the more u push him down he doesnt have a game
  • SKY will be successful in every franchise apart from RCB which has a knack of getting worst out of good players
  • Pandya wud be successful in every franchise , he is gold as he is alone kind of player in India so every team will keep plans around him
  • Williamson if he gets top 4 batting position in any side, he ll do well

If u waste anyone in wrong position he wont work , also a lot depends on team enviorment RCB is one team that doesnt get best out of players

pandya works because he can play with freedom. He is not bowling this season either but still he contributed well for MI but I don’t see him play Holder, Stoinis type  responsible knocks. Obviously he doesn’t find himself in those situations because of his strong team. So SRH may not really need him.

On the other hand MI may not need Holder’s bowling or his steady batting.

Holder hasnt been a t20 player, this improvement just came this season during CPL, holder previously failed for CSK which plays similarly . Yea he wont work in MI coz they are playing a different brand of cricket now but heytmer and stonis wud

Stonis wud have enjoyed Wankhade....a  lot depends on pitches as well

It is players that make a team good or bad. The more good players you have, the better your team. The better your team, more the pressure to perform and win

Also top players such as Viv Richards, ABDV, etc., usually play their attacking game irrespective of position/situation, which helps their teams win more games than what they would have

You judge a player based on his attitude, match winning abilities, skills, and so on. If you have what it takes, you will be successful irrespective of your environment and make your team competitive

Ryan Ten doschate and Brandon Taylor can walk into any team and they according to me are no less talented than Kohli or Smith or Williamson but how many people know their names?

my point is for example a guy like Pandya is a luxury but not a utility like a guy like say Holder or Stoinis. Pandya is the guy who can take a team like MI from 170-180 ish to 200-220 ish in a flash but may not be the right man for say getting the team over the line in a 135 run chase on a tough pitch. So he may not look that good in a different team or SKY may not have the same freedom say in CSK which has a weak top and lower order. Will Pandey be able to play with more freedom in a better batting unit? That’s the point.

Top players are all able to adjust to various parameters. On a difficult pitch for e.g., Gavaskar is probably one of the best batsmen to have but people are going to pick Viv Richards over him when forming LOI teams. If Gavaskar played for WI, he would not be Viv Richards.

Whether a team is a strong or weak batting unit, the likes of Viv Richards are going to play their natural game and win more games for their team than it would.
