Is the charm of fast bowling going away?

The way Bumrah and Shami are getting smacked for runs reminds me of how Tendulkar and Ganguly used to tonk 120 kph medium pacers from Sri Lanka/Zimbabwe/Bangladesh.

Not the fast bowler's fault, but the way game has advanced to such a level that batsmen hardly fear pace and play it easily. There used to be a time when bowling at 140 kph was considered to be seriously fast, but that novelty factor has worn off.

Knee jerk

Bumrah will do well in the next match.

Also Shami bowled well.

I still remember how ICF was fuming when we lost first odi vs aus in india 2020jan.Then we won the next two.

Bumrah is always overrated in limited overs. He only performs in IPL.

To be serious though, batsmen have evolved a lot. I see Wasim and Waqar too getting hammered for runs against this batting on this pitch.

Not a knee jerk, but it's a pattern. Bumrah bowled a full toss at 144 kph and got hit for runs, I understand it's a full toss but still at 144 kph even an international standard batsman should ideally find it hard to see the ball.

Bumrah is just not good enough with the new bowl. He has gone used to of playing in IPL now and doesn't bother bowling the offstump length and look to take wickets. He is only good at Yorkers and when it doesn't work the full tosses sail over the crowd.

He should be banned from IPL and play only test cricket.

You need to realise it’s very hard for fast bowlers in Aus. Just because it’s Aus..their eyes light up..and end up trying to bowl super fast rather than put the ball in the right areas...this is especially the case for tourists.

In general batsmen do not fear speed anymore, they have far more confidence than the previous generation. Donald bowled in 86-88 mph range and Atherton kept jumping around. Today 88 mph koi bhi khel lega.
